Regular Council Minutes
8-16-04
Page 12
Mayor Rinker said I have a question. I have noticed at the intersection of Highland and S.O.M.
and Wildwood-it's like Cedar Point with the changes of the grade.
Mr. Metzung said a sign should have been placed but we will take care of it first thing in the
morning.
Mr. Marquardt said it is also not clear that the barricades are blocking off the west side of
S.O.M.if you come out of Wildwood it is not clear that that lane is shut off. It needs something
there.
Mr. Metzung said he will look at it.
Council President Buckholtz said I spoke to Mr. Marcie and Mr. Samac over the weekend about
the issue of traffic safety in that parking lot [by the Corned Beef Shop.] Both Tom and Bernie
had some ideas on getting that mailbox moved-and there are still handicapped spaces from
when the bank had its door on the south side.
Mrs. Cinco said a lot of that was discussed at Finance/Safety & Service that some of these items
need addressed before the parking variance is considered.
Mr. Cappello we met with the contractor for the road program. I think he will start in a week or so.
We will be doing concrete repairs on Sandalwood, Thornapple, Kenwood and Oakwood.
Mr. Brett said last week Gates Mills' Mayor Sally Broome passed away. When I went to the
wake, Sally Broome's husband went at great length to commend the fire rescue squad for
Mayfield Village who took Mayor Broome to the hospital many times. He wanted to convey his
deep appreciation to the Mayfield Village Fire Department for those services.
Mr. Marrelli said under new business we passed a motion that gave credit to the zoning board
(Board of Appeals) for review but it was the Planning Commission. (Correction made.)
Mr. Marrelli said you may have noticed there are no crosses on the Civic Center. I have a
contractor coming out to look at the shingles next week and I will probably be coming back for
funds at the next meeting.
Council President Buckholtz asked, have we all officially gotten the word that we have a
Mayfield Village Civic Center and the address changed to 6622 Wilson Mills Road.
Mr. Marcie said a follow up to what Mrs. Eisenberg brought up. We all know we have an
ordinance. In defense of John and Bernie, etc., I know it is hard to police that thing to the "nth"
degree and I know Pat is involved also. There are a couple spots where people have some
campers that as permanent as their garage-they are just there all the time. I think some of those
should be stepped on. Once in a while somebody will come in and a relative will be there and I
think we have tobend--and I think I speak from experience because when the kids were little we
had a 28' camper but we put it in and we took it out. But we do have a couple spots in the
Village where they are as permanent as telephone poles. I think those people are flaunting it and
I think those people should be told and have them move. Now, the occasional one-I think that
