Regular Council Minutes
8-16-04
Page 4
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt said there is no report.
Planning and Zoning - Mr. Marquardt said Planning & Zoning Commission met on August 2na
and discussed the things John went over: the detached storage building and 6450 Highland
Road, expansion of the Special Use Permit for Lakeshore Dance and Gymnastics and the concept
of the Hotel/Restaurant/Conference Center. All those items were recommended for approval.
As they say, the hotel is really just a conceptual approval, if you will; no site plans or variances
have been identified.
Recreation Board - Mr. Marrie said the Recreation Board does not meet during the summer.
The next meeting will be September 22. A brief recap of some of the things that went on during
the summer: we had 62 teens and adults that went on the Whitewater Rafting Trip; the Debbie
Hudacko Run had 181 walkers and runners, the Girls 6th _ 8rt' Grade Sand Volleyball League had
54 girls participating every Sunday at Wiley Park, the Adult Coed Softball League was
concluded on August 13 and the Men's 18 and Over League finished August 5. Summer Chess
Camp was held during the week of the 26th and there were 13 children enrolled. Mayfield Village
softball season concluded on August 10th and we had over 200 attending that; they had their
party at the pool that night.
Sewer Liaison Committee -Council President Buckholtz said there was no report.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
S.O.M. Widening Committee - Mr. Metzung said traffic has been moved to the east onto
temporary pavement as they prepare, hopefully tomorrow, to begin pavement removal in
anticipation of Phase 3. It is my understanding it will begin up here towards Wilson Mills and
move to the north. They continue to do the concrete on Phase 2; they need to do all the infills and
driveways and things of that nature. They won't open that until they can do all those items; it
will be a lot safer not to have traffic on the road when they can have a clear roadway to work off
of. They have also completed movement of waterfall to the east. When they originally
constructed the waterfall in the dip area, it was a little too far to the west; it didn't allow them to
get the 2 to one grade they needed from the roadway and the bike underpass down to the floor of
the river there, so they had to move farther to the east. They have completed that. They have
grouted some boulders in and that needed some serious work. At least that part is done. They
continue to work on their grading now so they are moving forward in that area. They are
completing the water line at the south end of the project; they are boring the lines underneath
preparing to make the new connection so residents along S.O.M. at the south end of the project
will see some brief disruption in their service when they make those actual transfers but they will
be pretty quick about it-in an hour or so they will be able to switch them over.
2020 Vision Committee - Mr. Marquardt said there was no report.
Health Care Task Force/Insurance - Mr. Marrie said there was no report; no meeting.
