Regular Council Minutes
9-27-04
Page 5
Income tax receipts overall are up 16%; Progressive collections are up 24.13%. Non-Progressive
revenues from income tax are up 3.6%. We have a Tax Incremental Financing Agreement and a
Development Agreement proceeding forward tonight for Slcoda, Minotti.
William Thomas (Parks & Recreation)
Mr. Thomas said our fall programs are in full swing. The department continues to work with the
schools in obtaining gym space for our Mayfield Basketball Association (MBA.) The school
administration has been very supporting of giving additional gyro space. I have to add the school
levy is critical to the continued use of school facilities. That is another major factor for our
department. We pray that the levy will pass. Planning has begun for the Winter 2004-2005
Winter Parks & Recreation Brochure. The brochure will be mailed second week of November.
We continue to work with the Adaptive Recreation Committee; this is a committee that is
offering programs under physical, sensory and development disabilities. We will be meeting on
October 5 to discuss activities for the winter program.
Lloyd Chapman (Property Manager)
Mr. Chapman said we are continuing to attempt to finally close on the purchase of the Lazzaro
property on S.O.M. Center Road. It is in Probate Court and we are awaiting the judge's decision
to allow us to close on that property. This evening we will be talking a little later about the
potential of leasing a portion of the Civic Center to a church group who are interested in meeting
there on Wednesday evenings and Sunday mornings. We have had a homeowner approach us
about the potential of entering into purchase option on their property. We are in the beginning
stages of taking a look at whether or not we might be interested in doing that. At this point the
homeowner would just as soon remain anonymous until we discuss the issue a little further. We
will continue to work with that and give you information on that if the homeowner gets
interested into entering into something.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTSa
Activities Committee -Mrs. Roman said the Activities Committee is getting ready for the
Singing Angels concert in new Civic Center. Tickets will be on sale mid-October. Look for more
information about that. We are hoping to fill up [the facility.]
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli said the Architectural Review Board met on
September 23. There were two agenda items: a homeowner at 495 Zorn Lane had a patio
enclosure approved. The homeowner at 6705 Glenview Drive proposed an attached garage
addition which ended up having to go back. We are going to have a special Architectural Review
Board meeting with them on Thursday. There was an issue with roof lines. He is under time
constraints so the Board agreed to meet in special session for his issue.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Marrelli said the Board of Appeals had one issue of a shed not meeting
a sideline setback on Hemingway and that variance was granted.
Cemetery - Mr. Saponaro said High Point Tree Service continues to work on taking down some
of the trees and taking branches off of dead trees and looking at the poison ivy problems and the
brush and things of that nature. They gave us terrific price because they could do this in
