Regular Council Minutes
9-27-04
Page 9
Mr. Marrie said I think the Recreation Board would love to see the pool stay open longer; there
wasn't anybody who was negative on the pool staying open. It was just that if we don't have safe
conditions, we shouldn't leave ourselves wide open. But they left it open also that if somebody
comes up (as you said with Citizen's Advisory) with ideas to do it a little differently. I think
everybody would jump on it. I personally would like to see it stay open but I can understand why
it isn't.
Mr. Marrie reported the ballfields are on their way. They should be finished and seeded and
ready to play on in the Fall of 2005. Another discussion came up about a Dog Park; that was shot
down because we feel we have a lot more than some of the communities that have dog parks
such as the Metroparks so they didn't feel that we should need one or have to have one. Another
item I would like to ask for help on Saturday, October 30 for our annual Halloween Party from 1
to 2:30 p.m. in the Community Room. We certainly could use help on that. Anyone who is
available or knows someone who can help, we welcome the opportunity of having them assist us.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
2020 Vision Committee
Mrs. Mills said we would like to see it on the agenda.
Information & Technolo~y
Mr. Marne said we discussed this at length at the Caucus meeting. Since then I can add that we
are still working with vendors on a telephone system that we can put into our new Civic Center.
As soon as we have something solid, we will present it and have everyone looking at it.
Mayor Rinker said I have a request. Frank Cickach at the High School I think would be the
person to talk to just in general on some of these issues. I would encourage you all to try to have
a sit down with him to sort of compare some notes on some of these things.
Mr. Marrie said I have talked to Frank on a couple of occasions and am well aware that he has
offered his services so we will.
OLD. BUSINESS'
• Consideration of Appeal from Chuck Van Ness, Corned Beef Shop, 785 S.O.M.
Center Road, for a forty (40) space car parking variance to allow an addition to the
existing building -Board of Appeals Considered & Denied Request on 7/20/04 (Case
#2004-OS)
Council President Buckholtz said I believe the Corned Beef Shop is still on hold.
Mr. Marrelli said our last correspondence was of September 13 where Mr. VanNess asked to be
placed on the next Council meeting. We did not receive any communication as of this afternoon
and I don't see anybody here.
Council President Buckholtz said it was my understanding that he wanted to hold off.
