Regular Council Minutes
10-18-04
Page 12
First Reading of Ordinance No. 2004-46, entitled; "An emergency ordinance adopting the 2020
Vision Plan for the Village." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marrie, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring an
Ordinance to be read on three separate occasions.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Rules Suspended
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2004- 46.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion.
Mayor Rinker asked the members of the 2020 Vision Committee in the audience to stand.
(Present were: Mary Kaye Bozza, Jean Britton, Box Haycox, Randy Hyde, Shirley Jay, Eric
Jochum, Eunice Kalina, Zivile Khoury, Joe Prcela, Shirley Shatten,)
Mayor Rinker said we have some goodies following the meeting. I would be remiss if I didn't at
least say a few words. Apart from thank-you, when you think about where we began quite some
time ago, a number of people (and virtually every one of you was there) will recall that there was
no little trepidation at the thought of what are we doing and what is the scope of this. I mean
questions abounded. And I think it is a real testament to say that in a relatively short period of
time after kind of a slow start but once you got your sea legs, some real heavy work and very
productive work took place. Every community needs to have the kind of involvement of its
residents. We are really very fortunate we do. There is nothing particularly magical. It is just a
question of taking the time, paying attention, sharing ideas and realizing that the creative juices
start flowing and the sense of being involved in your community and belonging really become
something very special. To be able to say that we've got, after 40 years of an interlude, a new
document that we all can collectively refer to from time to time to give us guidance, to give
really kind of a benchmark in the sense of proportion and prospective is really very useful. It is a
tool that we can utilize over and over again. The ability to modify it itself shows that it is a tool
for the ages. So, again, thank you so much for getting involved and stick around.
Council President Buckholtz said I would like to publicly and personally thank everyone that
contributed to that; thank you.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
First Reading of Ordinance No. 2004-47, entitled; "An emergency ordinance authorizing and
directing the Mayor to enter into a Lease Agreement with Word of Grace Church for the purpose
of leasing space located within the Mayfield Village Civic Center." Introduced by Mayor Rinker
and Council as a Whole.

1

Dr. Parker, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council requiring an
Ordinance to be read on three separate occasions.
