Regular Council Minutes <br />10-18-04 <br />Page 4 <br />Lloyd Chapman (Property Manager) <br />Mr. Chapman said I ain pleased to say that we are one step closer to finalizing the purchase of <br />the Lazzaro property. The deal was signed by the Probate Judge. We are simply pulling together <br />the rest of the information concerning the title transfer. We will be reviewing and discussing the <br />Civic Center lease to the Word of Grace. Lastly, the property owner who asked us if we might be <br />interested in their property; we had transmitted a copy of the appraisal we had done only to find <br />that they are not so sure they want to sell right now. So we have begun discussions about the <br />possibility of some sort of a purchase option that at a future date would permit us to be first in <br />line in that circumstance. We will be discussing that further. <br />Chief David Mohr (Fire) <br />Chief Mohr said we have concluded Fire Prevention Week last week and worked with all the <br />first graders at Center Elementary School. That was a success. It is an ongoing project with the <br />school. We have received through the County emergency alerting radios which we are giving to <br />the High School, the Center School, one will go to Progressive; one is already at Dispatch and <br />the Fire Station. It is some of the first Homeland Security money that we have actually seen. <br />Philip Brett (Finance) <br />I will have 2 personnel items at the next Council Meeting. At the next Caucus I would like to <br />discuss some amendments to the appropriation ordinance. Let me restate: at the next Council <br />meeting I will have 2 personnel issues to discuss and I will also have a revised budget to take <br />into account where we are so far this year. Friday, October 15 or Thursday, October 14, we did <br />set a new record for municipal income tax collections in one year. We have done that and we <br />have 2 months to go. <br />V6~illiam Thomas (Parks ~ Recreation) <br />Mr. Thomas said winners for the 6th annual Halloween window painting contest were announced <br />on Friday and will be seen in the Sun Messenger. First place window went to Fish Furniture, <br />second went to First Merit. There were 2 sisters that worked at Fish Furniture and a St. Francis <br />girl worked on the second place window. On Friday, October 29, we will offer the Wildcat Teen <br />Halloween Bash. That is sponsored by the schools, Mayfield Village and Mayfield Heights. Our <br />winter brochure is now being worked on by our layout artist. We anticipate it being mailed the <br />week of November 8. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Activities Committee -Mrs. Roman said the Activities Committee met earlier this month and <br />are making plans for the December 11th Singing Angels concert at the Civic Center. Letters are <br />going out to residents and businesses asking if they would like to advertise in the program book <br />for the event. Letters are also going out to residents about the ballot issues; (we are including <br />them in one mailing.) The Activities Committee will meet in early November. We will be talking <br />more about the Singing Angels Concert and the upcoming Holiday Tree Lighting Ceremony. <br /> <br />1 <br /> <br />
