Regular Council Minutes
10-18-04
Page 5
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli said no action at the Architectural Review Board
other than what was reported at the last Caucus meeting.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Marrelli said there was no action since the last Caucus meeting.
Cemetery -Mrs. Mills reported they are almost finished with the tree trimming.
Citizen's Advisory - Mr. Saponaro was no present. Council President Buckholtz said their next
meeting will be on October 25.
Commission on A~in~ -Mrs. Mills read the report submitted by Human Services Director
Eunice Kalina. (attached)
Mayor Rinker said again, it is sort of an anticlimax to hear the report about the flu shots but as I
am sure many of you are following the media coverage right now. There is a lot of finger
pointing going on which is unfortunate but the fact that we had the ability to dispense as many as
241 flu shots in little old Mayfield Village is pretty impressive. They are talking about a lot of
places where many issues of privation, they are already talking about emergency medical
services are gearing up nationwide to discuss this issue of how to deal with the oncoming flu
season so it is pretty significant; we are very fortunate and good work.
Mrs. Mills said the vaccines we gave were from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. so we did it very efficiently.
Drainage & Infrastructure/Stormwater Mgt. -Mrs. Cinco turned the report to Mr. Metzung as
he has some updates on the projects that we have approved and hopefully we will get done some
of them.
Mr. Metzung said letters have been sent out and I have begun to receive some responses back for
the easements needed to get into the properties. Just so you know, some of these take some
bizarre negotiations. One we had a gentleman complaining about drainage problems and yet stil
wouldn't let us enter his property to help drain the property. We did lose a project to that.
Safety and Service -Mrs. Cinco said Safety & Service met on September 13. A lot of items
were passed on the agenda that night with the special meeting. We discussed the off street
parking schedule, the Gates Mills Jail versus EMS services and also talked about the
reimbursement to part-time firefighters for paramedic school. We concluded with the winter
equipment for cutting edges for the snowplows.
Finance Committee- Mrs. Mills said the committee met this evening and had 5 items on the
agenda. We approved 4 of the items; the 5th item was Ordinance 2004-47 which was the rental
of the Mayfield Village Civic Center. We will have just a little discussion on that; however, we
do recommend it for approval with a caveat to the lease that has already been prepared.
Historical Society -Mrs. Mills said another year, another Quilt Show. Yesterday ended our 11th
Quilt Show. There were just under 300 people attending. Our next event will be our annual
Turkey Raffle on November 20 in the Community Room at 7:30 p.m. Odd job work is being
done at the Historical House in bits and pieces.
