Regular Council Minutes
11-15-04
Page 3
asking Council go ahead with the Greene Company's proposal because as soon as we get the
cable situation cleared up, we can move forward.
Mr. Metzung said S.O.M. Center Road continues to move along. The bulk of the Phase 3 work,
the concrete work has been completed but we have some large bores left at the Highland Road
area. Work at the Beta intersection has begun. The Highland Road area will be completed on
Thursday. An infill on the Service Department is being completed this week and we also have an
area where they will be adding a third lane here at Wilson Mills sometime next week-they are
digging that up now. They have moved to the box culvert at the north end-the pedestrian
underpass-and have attempted to raise that underpass using a foam grout material; that proved
to be unsuccessful so they have come back and actually excavated the boxes and they are back in
position now. They must re-waterproof the walls and backfill with loose material. When they are
completed with that, they will be able to do the concrete pour in the area. I don't know when
that will be. That is what will be completed this year; that will complete what is Phase 3 roadway
and then we probably won't see them until next year.
Building
Mr. Marrelli said afollow-up from the Caucus Meeting, the High School maintenance building
was approved and will begin construction shortly at the High School. Mr. Carney has finalized
his plans and is getting the utilities in order to begin construction on his building on S.O.M.
Center. Regarding the Civic Center alterations, as we discussed last week, I am getting bids on
phase one work: electrical, mechanical, plumbing; I won't have them for probably another week
or so and will report back as soon as they are available.
Council President Buckholtz said so the Carney building is a go and asked, you don't need
anything from Council on that? When will he start?
Mr. Marrelli said yes. Right now he is trying to get permits from the Water Department; and
utility work is being ironed out. [No action is required by Council.]
Property Manager
Mr. Chapman said the closing statement on the Lazzaro property has been completed and
delivered to our Finance Department so we can complete that closing shortly. We should be able
to get in there shortly and clear out the remaining items in the house, put the new carpeting in
and get it ready to lease within the next 45-60 days. A homeowner on White Road has requested
us to consider a purchase option on her home in the event she might want to sell. We provided
her with an appraisal; she advised she does not want to enter into that sort of agreement at this
time. She may call us back in a few weeks like she had done before and change her mind. I will
be touring 2 of the homes that we own over the next week; I have called those homeowners and
told them that I will come by in the near future. We like to do that from time to time to be sure
the properties are in good condition and being properly maintained, etc. I delivered an appraisal
to a homeowner on Highland Road who asked if we might be interested in the acquisition of that
particular property. We are quite interested and pleased with that and if they are interested, we
will be looking at that further and discussing that issue as well. The Word of Grace got most of
