Regular Council Minutes
12-6-04
Page 3
Mr. Marrie, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to approve the appointments of Wanda
Hejcl and Ed Gottschling as resident member of the Firemens' Dependents' Fund.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Appointments Confirmed
Mayor Rinker administered the oath of office to Ed Gottschling and Wanda Hejol as resident
members of the Firemens' Dependents' Fund.
COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BUCKHOLTZ
Council President Buckholtz said I have no comments at this time.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
• Douglas Metzung (Service)
Mr. Metzung said as Mayor Rinker stated earlier, S.O.M. Center has reached the 3/ mark with
completion of the phases: we have completed phases one, two and three. You can now travel
from White Road to Wilson Mills in the southbound direction and remain on the new concrete.
In the northbound direction, it starts just south of Sandalwood. For the rest of this year, there
will be some minor work done on drive aprons that need to be restored. They will be doing some
stormwater issues on the east side of S.O.M. in phase four. It is still to be debated as to whether
or not they will actually be tearing out any material yet this year. It is still being evaluated by the
Engineer as to whether or not it is pragmatic to do that now or wait until the spring.
Mr. Metzung reported that leaf collection is nearing its end. We will continue to be out until
either the weather closes us out or we find no more leaves but for the most part it is over.
• John Marrelli (Building)
Mr. Marrelli said as I mentioned I have given a memo to Council. I have gotten cost estimates on
electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, carpeting and the window treatments for the renovation of
the Civic Center. All but the carpeting and the air conditioning were approved by the Finance
Committee. I will be going back and doing specifications for the air conditioning and the
carpeting for bids. You should have what it boils down to for cost estimates throughout the
packet. I will entertain any questions if you have any about any.specific estimates.
Council President Buckholtz said I thought they were coming in very nicely.
Mr. Marrelli said they are coming in lower than anticipated.
• Chief David Mohr (Fire)
Chief Mohr said regarding the telephone system at the Civic Center, they are wrapping up
installation of the CAT 5 wiring and the phone jacks. They will be completely done by this
Thursday. Tomorrow they will start pulling the cable from the Fire Station to the side of the
