Regular Council Minutes
12-6-04
Page 7
~ Mr. Marquardt said I could see the objection, however, that since this is not amoney-making
proposition, the taxpayers in the Village are supporting what isn't supported by the membership
fees so I could see it as an objection of some people that we are supporting folks using our pool
from Pepper Pike or wherever.
Mr. Saponaro and Mr. Mamie said they pay higher because they aren't in the district.
Mr. Thomas said they are. paying school district rates.
Mr. Saponaro said if you made the family pay a different rate than that, I don't think you'd get
an argument.
Council President Buckholtz said there are compromise points about different pricing, etc. rather
than coming down and saying we don't want you. That is the way it is sounding.
Mayor Rinker said we need to hold discussion so you can establish some kind of rationale.
Dr. Parker asked if an,y other schools are affected than Hawken.
Mr. Marne said Hawken isn't in the District.
Mr. 'Thomas said the only 3 I am aware of are: Gilmore, St. Francis and St. Pascals. Hawken
isn't in the school district.....
Council President Buckholtz said if there are Mayfield Village families who have students going
to Hawken-
Mr. Marne said but then they are a resident and it isn't a problem.
Mr. Mamie said I think they need to give us all the figures of the families-and the ones-so we
have a total. Then I think we can take that up between now and the January meeting.
Mr. Saponaro questioned next meeting date.
Mr. Mamie confirmed it will be January 19.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
2020 Vision Committee
Council President Buckholtz said I have been getting phone calls from Chairman of 2020 Vision
Implementation Committee. We will be planning a couple of morning coffee sessions and will
discuss where they can continue.
