Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
March 20, 2006
Page 3
BUILDING - John Marrelli
Mr. Marrelli had nothing to report this evening. Mr. Buckholtz asked Mr. Marrelli about
the letters sent out recently to the shopping mall, Mr. Musca and tenants. Mr. Marrelli stated that
having read the Minutes of the Beautification Committee, he contacted Mr. Musca and his
landscaping/cleaning crew and sent letters to the tenants. Lo and behold, a day after the mail
arrived, the holes were filled and the cleaning crew was out raking out the leaves and picking up
the papers. The work is still going on today and will probably be ongoing for another couple of
days. With the snow melting, it is looking a little shabby so they did their spring cleaning a little
early. Mr. Marrelli has a commitment from the contractor to do a bi-weekly clean up if not
weekly and keep it from getting as bad as it got as far as trash goes. Mr. Buckholtz asked that a
copy of those letters get distributed to Citizen's Advisory and the Beautification Committees.
Mr. Marrelli indicated that he would make sure that happens.
ENGINEERING - Tom Cappello
Mr. Cappello reported that we are continuing to work on the Highland Road, Metropark
and Zorn sanitary sewer plans and hope to have them ready for bid in June.
PROPERTY MANAGER - Llovd Chapman
Mr. Chapman reported that Diane Wolgamuth from Mr. Metzung's office and Diane
Calta have worked together to send Leases out to each of the residences that were not currently
under a Lease. They have all received month-to-month Leases to sign and return.
LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Ms. Calta
The legal department had nothing to report.
FIRE - Chief Mohr
Chief Mohr reported that we participated with Cuyahoga Community College's fire
technology program yesterday in removing the house that is going to be rebuilt on Bonnieview.
That was a very successful drill. A lot of training took place there and the school was very
grateful to Mayfield Village for their support and for allowing them to use the home.
Chief Mohr also reported that they are closing the bridge in the Metroparks over
Butternut Falls on April 3`d. That will greatly impact our response in to Gates Mills and will
potentially add between 8-12 minutes to an emergency call in to Gates Mills at their north end of
town. They have been notified. Mayor Rinker asked if there are some alternative routes being
planned. Chief Mohr responded that they are looking over the bike path that abuts St.
Bartholomew. They are loolcing along the Buttermilk Fall Parkway to put a culvert in and an
apron so we can go directly down that bike path. The Metroparks are also removing some
plantings by the educational house off of old Sunset Lane Drive so that we can get in through
that way. Mayor Rinker asked if that was the original entrance. Chief Mohr indicated it was.
