Regular Council Minutes
10/23/06
Page 3
Mayor Rinker suggested that we tighten this up a little bit, making sure we are covering
all three streets, and send out a status update to the residents.
Mrs. Mills asked when the bridge will be finished in the Metroparks. Mr. Cappello
indicated that he did not know, but he would find out. Mayor Rinker asked when this project
was started. It was one of those things when one day it was 120 days and the very next day it
was 270 days. Mrs. Mills added that they talked about a completion date of the end of October
and right now it does not look like it is going to be finished.
LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Mr. Diemert
There was no report.
FIRE - Chief Mohr
Chief Mohr reported that the fire safety house was rolled out for Center School's first
grade students. That went well. We have pictures which will be in the next issue of the Voice of
the Village.
Chief Mohr reminded everyone that on November 5th, we will be administering the flu
vaccines through the MIPOD program. The drill will be tested at Mayfield High School.
FINANCE -Phillip Brett
Mr. Brett reported that we hit a nice window on the sale of the bond. We got about 10
bids and we got out with lower than 4% interest on $7,000,000.00. We will be closing that
tomorrow. The Law Director, the Clerk, the Mayor and Council President need to remain here
after we are all done so that we can get signatures on this. Mr. Brett will be meeting with bond
counsel tomorrow.
POLICE -Chief Dearden
Chief Dearden reported that the new traffic signal equipment has been installed at
Ridgebury and Lander. It is up and running. They are running it through a test phase now to
ensure that the timing patterns they have instituted are the most efficient for the traffic flow at
that intersection. That intersection actually covers three communities, Mayfield Heights,
Highland Heights and ourselves. For the most part over the years, Mayfield Heights has handled
the maintenance of that intersection without any financial support from the other two
" communities. When we started talking about the need to update the equipment at the intersection
obviously at that point there was a need to try to either get funding from the other two
communities or work out some solution. We did that without any financial impact on Mayfield
