Regular Council Minutes
10/23/06
Page 8
Mayor Rinker expressed Honorable Mention to Mrs. Mills for getting Second Place.
Hillcrest Council of Councils -Mrs. Cinco reported that there was no meeting, so there is no
report.
M.A.R.C. - Dr. Parker reported that M.A.R.C. met on October 12th . Neither Dr. Parker or Mr.
Thomas were able to attend. They have not received the Minutes yet, but they.will forward them
on to Council once they have them.
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt reported that there was no meeting, so there is
no report.
Planning and Zoning - Mr. Marquardt deferred report to Mr. Marrelli. Mr. Marrelli reported
that Planning and Zoning met last week. We had a workshop. We had one item, 700 Beta Drive
which is the old Stanley Tool Building. We are in the midst of looking at the mixed use hotel
situation at that property. It is still alive. Mayor Rinker added that he thinks this is really
exciting. It seems we have finally turned a corner. That could be a real shot in the arm for Beta.
Recreation Board - Mr. Marrie reported that the Board met on October 20th. The contests were
discussed. The children's Halloween party is this Saturday from 1:00-2:30. All of the adult
softball and co-ed soccer is finished for the season. The Start Smart for the little guys and girls
and soccer and football also finished up. Bowling will begin in November. There are sign ups
for the MBA basketball for the Mayfield area. That usually is pretty solid. The league for the
boys looks like pretty much average. The girl's sign up at this point is a little on the low side.
The men's basketball will start on November 5th. We will have six teams again this year. One
other thing that the Board talked about was raising the rates on the swimming pool by a small
margin, $1 or $2 next year, except for the seniors, there will be no change for the seniors.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
2080 Vision Committee - There was no report, except for the special presentation tomorrow
night.
Information & Technology - Mr. Marrie reported that there was no meeting, so there is no
report.
Wage Review Committee -Mrs. Mills reported that Ordinance 2006-49 is on the agenda for
this evening to add one part-time employee and afull-time employee who was left off the
previous Ordinance.
