Regular Council Minutes
10/23/06
Page 9
OLD BUSINESS
OPEN PORTION - 3 minute limit imposed by Chair. Those who wish to speak must first state
their name and address. This open portion is limited to discussion pertaining to the items under
"Old Business" only.
There were no comments.
Mr. Saponaro asked for a copy of the CAC minutes. He did not get one in his packet. Mr.
Buckholtz indicated that it has come to their attention that they are not submitting it to Mary Beth,
so it is not getting to Council. Dr. Parker will make sure that Mary Beth gets the Minutes and she
will distribute them to Council.
NEW l~USINESS
Motion to reverse the decision of the Board of Appeals of Case No. 2006-03 fora 525
square foot variance to allow for construction of a 1200 square foot accessory
building.
Mr. Saponaro, seconded by Mrs. Mills, made a motion to reverse the decision of the
Board of Appeals for Case No. 2006-03 fora 525 square foot variance to allow for construction
of a 1200 square foot accessory building.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion.
Mr. Marrelli reported that at Caucus, we discussed what the garage would look like and
the Mayor asked if he could get a drawing put together. Council should have that. Ron
DiNardo, our Municipal Architect, prepared it. What he did was draw the north elevation of the
garage showing the height of the roof as our Ordinance would have it which is at the bottom half
of the page and he redrew it with the roof in proper proportion to the width of the building which
is beyond what our Ordinance allows by 2 feet 6 inches. Mr. Marrelli asked that because we had
this done, could we add that into the motion if Council plans to approve this? In other words,
when the Architectural Board gets this, they are going to raise the roof on it beyond what our
Code requires because it does not look right when it is too wide. We went through this with Mr.
Mills' garage some years ago. Same issue.
With regard to the variance, Mayor Rinker requested clarification of what they were at
BZA. Mr. Marrelli responded, that initially the variances were oversized by 525 square feet.
What that oversize does is give you a wide footprint and with our 1 S foot garage roof ridge
requirement maximum, it ends up being a wide low garage and so what the Architect did was
proportion the roof and because we have this in front of us, Mr. Marrelli would like to know if
Council would go ahead and act on that as well so that we do not have to go back to the Zoning
Board unless you think that is what we have to do.
