Regular Council Meeting
12/18/06
Page 3
FIRE -Chief Mohr
Chief Mohr reported that the community radio station is on right now. Turn your dial to 1640
AM on the way home and you will hear the weather forecast being broadcast. By January 1St, we
will be ready to broadcast community information. Mr. Buckholtz asked if the station was
strictly weather and community information. Chief Mohr indicated it was. There is no music
allowed.
FINANCE -Phillip Brett
Mr. Brett reported that Council should have received their November financial statements. We
had a big influx of cash, but that is all borrowed money. Other than that, there is nothing to
report. Mr. Buckholtz asked if anyone had any questions. There were no questions.
POLICE -Chief Dearden
Chief Dearden reported the Ohio Attorney General's Office has forwarded a notice that we have
received our grant for a D.A.R.E. officer's program. Although on a yearly basis it is not a lot of
money, it does cover the expenses that the Village incurs with the use of our officers over there
during the current school year. This is the fourth year now that we have received this grant from
the Attorney General's office.
Mayor Rinker asked if this is the 15t" year that we have had a D.A.R.E. program. Chief Dearden
indicated that it has been at least 15 years.
PARKS & RECREATION -Bill Thomas
Mr. Thomas reported. that his department is working with three other communities (Lyndhurst,
Richmond Heights and Beachwood) on doing a unique program for teens (7-9t" grade). We are
going to try to call it Super Friday. We will have students come to each of the communities on
Fridays starting April 20t" through May l It". We are sponsoring Apri120t". We will be offering
activities at the field house from 7-9 p.m. to get the kids motivated.
Mr. Thomas also reported that flyers have been sent out on Groundhog Day. The Mayfield
Business Alliance is sponsoring this. It will take place on Friday, February 2"d at 6:00 a.m.
Breakfast will be served. The intent is to get everyone out and back to the office by 8:00 a.m. It
will take place at Landerhaven. The keynote speaker is Sam Rutigliano. Each of the Mayors
will speak for approximately five minutes. Mr. Buckholtz asked how that will be enforced. Mr.
Thomas indicated that they have a wrestling clock and it will go off after the five minutes. This
should be fun and exciting. We would like to sell at least two tables. The tickets sell for $25.00
or $200.00 for a table. The money goes to the Mayfield Business Alliance -for fundraisers.
ARCHITECT -Ron Dinardo
