Regular Council Meeting
2-26-07
Page 12
us and then we could use it as a commemorative item. He can make the arrangement in any size.
We can sell them in the city. He will give a presentation to us. Our Committee was very excited
about showcasing Mayfield Village and all of the great spots it has to show. He will be at the
April meeting.
Mr. Saponaro further reported that the Committee had a slogan contest. We are in the process of
picking out the best slogan. We will bring it to Council. Also, we had schoolchildren from the
various schools do a Beautification project at the schools. They prepared posters relative to their
vision of keeping the Village clean. 75-100 children participated in the project. They are all
winners. We are planning on picking a few of them and featuring them in windows of
businesses. This is something we have been discussing at our meetings. It is not a final plan. We
will bring it to Council as we move forward.
Mr. Buckholtz asked if Caucus was on April2nd. Mrs. Betsa advised that Caucus is April 9`h . It
was supposed to be April 2nd and it was moved to the 9th because the Municipal League
Conference for Local Government Officials is on the 2°d. Council will discuss rescheduling this.
With regard to the pictures, Mrs. Mills advised Joanne O'Brien that this is something that the
Historical Society sells already. They have pictures of not only the historical house, but the
school, the Gazebo, the old Village Hall, the Mayfield Methodist Church, which was done by
Mr. VanFleet who is now deceased. These are 8x10 pictures that are available. Joanne
explained that this would be a big collage with the city's name. They are all superimposed over
each other. Joanne asked Mrs. Mills if she has ever seen his work. Mrs. Mills indicated that she
has, but the Historical Society has had difficulty in selling these prints. You would have to really
want one of them. We also have the map that is in the hallway for sale. People are not into it.
Joanne indicated that there are many cities that use these as a promotion. Mrs. Mills does not
want anyone to step on the Historical Society. Joanne indicated that this is all superimposed, you
can look at it and see what you think. We will bring other city's collages and see what you think.
Board of Aqpeals - Mr. Marrelli indicated that there was no meeting, so there is no report.
Cemeterv - Mrs. Mills reported that there was no meeting, so there is no report.
Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Marrie reported that the next meeting is scheduled for
Wednesday, February 28t .
Commission on Aging - Mrs. Kalina reported that the Commission on Aging met on February
16t . Council members sliould have received a copy of the Minutes. Jan Perna was elected the
Chairperson. There was a powerpoint presentation of past, ongoing and future programs in the
community. The Committee discussed various means of contacting seniors who live alone in
case of emergency or just in general. Members of the Committee felt that this should be on a
personal basis, friend to friend, neighbor to neighbor. Some of them are already doing that.
