Regular Council Meeting
2-26-07
Page 4
you, the number would be about $3,800.00 for everything. That number would go down in terms of
just because we are buying the hardware, we are buying the pots, or we are buying the hayracks.
Next year it won't be as much.
Mrs. Mills asked if Joanne could go and measure those pots by the Jadd Mall to see how big
they are. They are out there all the time. Then, maybe the representative at the nursery might have an
insert that she could drop into that pot. Mr. Buckholtz asked if they were freestanding pots. Mrs.
Mills stated they were. Joanne stated that she thinks that would be wonderful, but her thought was
how about Mr. Heinen? He does his own right in the front there too. Mrs. Mills stated that Mr.
Heinen has his own flower access.
Mr. Marrie agreed with Mrs. Mills that if we are going to do it for two others, we should do it
there a1so. So that it has some continuity, why don't we put the same pots at the Jadd as we did at the
Carney and the Musca? Rather than using their pots at a11? Mrs. Mills stated that Mr. Aveni had
those pots shipped up from Florida, there is a sentimental attachment to those.
Mr. Buckholtz confirmed that they will be hanging baskets and then boxes, like the ones that
hang on a fence. Joanne indicated hayracks, like the ones on the Gazebo. Mr. Buckholtz asked if
they have something that is freestanding. Joanne stated it is not on a pedestal, but it is a 24" pot done
in a clay color. It is a hard plastic. They weigh it, she tells you what she fills it with. The beauty is
the flower. At least the bottom is that clay color. They cascade two feet down, you do not even see
it. There are three different types of configurations.
Mr. Buckholtz stated that we should picture a little square around the center of town which
starts at Aintree by Exceleration and the back of Deacon's by Wilson Mills down by the end of
Musca's property over around the fire station, up by the cemetery. You have a little quadrant there.
Mr. Buckholtz suggested we take a straw vote that is somewhere around not to exceed
$5,000.00 is not an exorbitant amount of money. Mrs. Mills stated that you will need more than the
$3,800.00 quote if you are going to do the Jadd Mall. Don't short yourself. If you are going to do
this, let's do it properly. The Garden Club has tried and they have always been strapped for money to
really fill those baskets the way they are supposed to be. Mr. Buckholtz suggested we go to
$6,000.00. Mr. Marrie suggested we make it $7,500.00 max.
Mr. Buckholtz stated we should be good to go. Let them know to start planting flowers, we
are going to be a good customer, we want to hop on the program with these guys. Mr. Saponaro
asked what we are leaving her with now. Mr. Marrie stated that she is leaving with that she can
spend the $7,500.00 and she can come back to us with the details.
Mrs. Mills stated that we will have to amend the agenda.
?
:

Mr. Buckholtz asked for a motion to amend the agenda.
