Regular Council Meeting
3-26-07
Page 4
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: Activities Committee - Mrs. Mills reported that the committee will be meeting on April Sth at
7:30 p.m. Suminer concerts are listed in the Voice of the Village. The Committee will work on
all of the upcoming events at the meeting.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli reported that Architectural Review Board met on
March 22. They approved a new home on Lander Road. The original house was vacated and
abandoned near Ridgebury. A nice new home will be built by Canterbury Homes at 1049
Lander. A home addition at 6718 Wildwood Trail was also approved.
Beautification- Mr. Saponaro advised that the next meeting is April 2°d at 7:00 p.m. Minutes
from our last meeting will be distributed shortly.
Board of Appeals - Mr. IVlarrelli indicated that Board of Appeals met on March 20th. They had
one item, a sideyard setback and height variance for a detached garage at 6699 Bonnieview.
That was approved.
Cemetery - Mrs. Mills reported that there was no meeting, so there is no report.
Citizen's Advisorv Committee - Mr. Marrie reported that a meeting was held on February 2gtn
Jim Mason was elected Chairman. Doug Metzung was in attendance and filled everyone in on
the rubbish contract. The Committee discussed previous problems with glass in the street.
Overall, most people thought it was not a problem any more. The entrance signs for the Village
were well-received. Plantings were discussed. The Beautification Committee was talked about.
Donna Roman provided a presentation on the Human Services Department. One of the issues
which have arisen is the need for "senior volunteers" for seniors who do not have any family for
simple jobs such as changing a light bulb because they cannot get on a ladder. The department
will discuss this further. The Committee still feels that they need to get their teeth into a project.
They are open for guidance from the Village on that. They would really like to do that. They had
great things to say about the Beautification Committee and the projects they have done. Merv
and Mary Singer who live on Highland asked last year and again this year for more Village
participation at the Memorial Day Services at the Cemetery. They did comment that the Mayor is
always there, but there is little or no other attendance there. They just feel that because the other
municipalities have more attendance, this would make our Village look a little better. It is a
pretty good cause. It does not take that long and it does pay respects for the people. The next
meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, March 28, 2007.
Commission on Aging - There was no meeting, so there is no report.
Drainage & Infrastructure/Stormwater Mgt. - Mr. Cappello advised that two weeks ago,
Doug, Tom, Diane and John went out and visited the additional projects. They have come up
with possible solutions at this point. They might have a meeting in April. At this point, they will
proceed with preparing plans and meeting with the Committee to rate them. We want to get
ahead of the game. If none of them end up qualifying, it won't be a lot of lost work. They want to
