Regular Council Meeting
4-3 Q-07
Page 5
Beautification- 1VIr. Saponaro advised that obviously we had a nice turnout for our presentation
due to the Beautification Committee for the children. They did a great job. The next meeting is
scheduled for Monday, May 14th at 7:00 p.m. Mr. Saponaro asked Joanne O'Brien when we are
getting the baskets. Joanne reported that they are to arrive after Memorial Day. On May 14t', the
Committee is taking a field trip back out to Madison to see their little seedlings. Anyone is
invited. Check with Joanne for time and arrangements. The Committee decided that the baskets
will be planted on site at the Jadd Mall.
Board of Anpeals - Mr. Marrelli indicated that Board of Appeals met on two items, Progressive
Caanpus III for height variances which were approved and renewal of two temporary leasing
banners on Beta Drive.
Cemeter-y - Mrs. Mills reported that the Garden Club members were working at the cemetery
this afternoon.
Citizen's Advisorv Committee - Mr. Marrie stated that there was no report tonight. The next
report will be on May 7t .
Commission on Aginit - Mrs. Kalina reported that the Committee met on April 19th to work out
det:ails for the party. They have another meeting set for Thursday, May 3ra
Drainage & Infrastructure/Stormwater Mgt. - Mrs. Cinco reported that there was no meeting.
They are waiting to get some prices in and will be evaluating projects. They will be going out to
bid.
Safetv and Service - Mrs. Cinco reported that Safety and Service met on April 16th. At that
time, the police department discussed the K-9 program which they axe just looking into, the
police vehicles, the police station, trees on S.O.M., on-deck fencing at Parkview, the replacement
canopy for Parkview Pool shade structures and for the chemicals for the pool, picnic tables and
trash cans at Wiley.
Fiinance Committee - Mr. Saponaro reported that they had their meeting this evening. They
rec;ommended 12 items for approval. They have two items that they are deferring. They are not
recommending approval on one item. They are recommending approval on two ordinances. Mr.
Buckholtz asked which ones. Mr. Saponaro indicated that the two that we are deferring axe
Ken's Parkhill, not to exceed $5,995.00 for the roof replacement at 6827 Thornapple. John
Marrelli stated that he needs to get more information on that. Also, an item not to exceed
$3,150.00 to Denton HVAC for replacement of the 10 year-old hot water boiler at the fire station
including installation has not been recommended for approval. We don't know enough about it
and believe that if its is an operating unit, then we don't need to replace it. Finally, the
expenditure to Denton HVAC not to exceed $3,000.00 for the replacement of the ice machine at
the fire station which includes labor and materials has been deferred. We want more information
on that. Everything else has been recommended for approval.
