Reg;ular Council Meeting
5-21-07
Page 3
PC1LICE - Chief Dearden
Chief Dearden reported that on the agenda tonight is a motion for expenditure to be approved in
the amount of $2,900.00 for clearing the site of the new police station. Chief Dearden received
three bids from companies that were recommended by the Village Engineer. The other two were
$4,500.00 and $4,600.00. Chief Dearden recommends Midwest Land Clearing. Their bid was
$2,900.00. That is well within the budget that was presented to us in the pre-construction cost
analysis prepared by Marous Brothers.
PARKS & RECREATION - Bill Thomas
Mr. Thomas reported the smoking policy at the fields is being adhered to and is going smoothly..
Everyone is following it. He is anticipating that to be the case at the pool. We have 123 persons
with disability, parents and caregivers going to Cedar Point on Wednesday. We received 100
free tickets from the Arc of Ohio. Yesterday, he ran in the Rite Aid run and he did not get lost.
ARCHITECT - Ron DiNardo
Mr. DiNardo reported that the pavilion at Wiley Park should be finished hopefully by the end of
the week with the roofing. The rest is on our end. A presentation updating on the police station
with plans and elevations will be provided at the June llth Council/Caucus meeting. Mr.
Buckholtz added that the Wiley Park pavilion looks great. H'UMAN SERVICES - Eunice Kalina
Mrs. Kalina reported that this past Saturday they had their 25t' Anniversary Party. Mrs. Kalina
thanked Mr. Buckholtz and Mr. Marrie who attended and provided brief talks in place of the
Mayor who was out of town. Thanks to Patsy who is always there to help out. Everything there
wi°nt very well. It was a very nice event. They have gotten calls and comments to that effect. It
was a lot of work, but it paid off. Mrs. Kalina also reported that they have received 16
qltestionnaires back already. They will be seeing the official Glenn Miller Orchestra downtown
at Playhouse Square. At Caucus/Council on June 11`h there will be a presentation by the
Cuyahoga County Senior Transportation representative. They have a viable solution for us.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee - Mrs. Mills reported that the Pancake Breakfast went very well. They
served over 800 people. They ran a little short on syrup and blueberries, but we can adjust to
that. The next meeting is this Wednesday, May 23`a at 7:00 p.m. We will be discussing
upcoming events, 50's night on June 9th, summer concerts and 4th of July. We still need
volunteers. Please volunteer. It is a lot of fun to work these events.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli reported that there was no meeting, so there is no
report.
