Minutes of the Combined Caucus/Council Meeting
6-11-07
Page 7
started in the Spring if not this Fall with some site work depending upon EPA and Army Corps
permits.
700 Beta, the hotel, is being finalized. A General Contractor has been retained to build it. We
will be finalizing that at the Planning and Zoning workshop. It will come to Council because it
is a conditional use permit. You will see the whole program at one time, hopefully in July.
The police station is in the architectural design phase stage. This evening, we are requesting
retaining a consultant for LEED consultations. That would become part of the solar panels and
like Dr. Parker mentioned, the low VOCs which is the volatility of the paint and glues. It is a
whole science to the types of materials and how you put them together and what you can use. Of
course, you need a consultant to assist. If you use one tube of glue in the wrong place, that
blows certification. We will be talking about that later.
Just today, Mr. Marrelli had a discussion with an architect hired for 600 Beta which is the old
Phillips building. Direct Buy, the members only purchasing club is looking to take some space
at 600 Beta. He also talked to the main person for maintenance at Mayfran who also told him
today that they are looking to take some space for warehousing. Right now, 600 Beta is looking
like a combination building, but at least it is getting some traction.
Musca Plaza paving repairs should be starting this week or next. The clean up effort over there is
ongoing. He has been in contact with Mr. Musca. Things are looking better over there.
ENGINEERING - Tom Canpello
Mr. Cappello reported that site restoration began this week at Metro Park and Zorn. It will take
into next week. What they have done so far looks pretty good. Once the landscaping is done,
they will come back and resurface the final coat of the road and we will have a pretty nice
looking street.
LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Joe Diemert
There was nothing to report.
FIRE - Chief Mohr
Chief Mohr reported that we only had one EMS call on 50's night. It was a minor incident.
Also, we taught fire safety to the elementary students at Center School and St. Francis. It went
very well.
