Minutes of the Combined Caucus/Council Meeting <br />6-11-07 Page 8 <br />FINANCE - Phillip Brett <br />Mr. Brett reported that on May 31St, Doug Metzung, a representative of the Mayor's office and <br />he went down to Columbus to pick up the award for the Foster's Run project. We received <br />special recognition for the work done. <br />Mr. Brett also went last Thursday to Independence, Ohio and picked up the Economic <br />Development Impact Award from Team NEO. We met a lot of our colleagues. A lot of people <br />had praise for the Village. <br />Mr. Brett is working on the 2008 tax budget. There will be a hearing on July 16th. That should <br />not go more than 40-45 minutes as it has in the past. <br />FOLICE - Chief Dearden <br />There was nothing to report. <br />PARKS & RECREATION - Bill Thomas <br />Mr. Thomas reported that because of the Service Department's efforts, we were able to open up <br />Parkview Pool on time. Mr. Thomas thanked Doug and his staff. As a result, we have 296 <br />Village active passes. We have 190 district passes. We have 140 Progressive passes. We have <br />sold 28 passes to local school district students. From June 4?' when we opened up until the lOtn, <br />we have had 1,191 people come through Parkview. We had 345 people on June 7th. On Friday, <br />June 8th, we had 296, 117 on Saturday and 278 on Sunday. That is not bad considering we really <br />have not full-fledged opened up. This will be our first full week. <br />Mr. Thomas stated that we have 255 participants who have signed up for our Learn to Swim and <br />other special aquatic classes. <br />Two of our stunmer camps started today. We have maxed out on the camps. We have 152 <br />campers at our Sports-N-More camp. Our teen adventure camp started today and we have 50. <br />We have 45 attending our junior camp. That will start on Tuesday of next week. <br />They hired a new basketball coach for the Mayfield Schools. His name is Keith Leffler. He will <br />be working very closely with our youth coaches for our MBA. Mr. Thomas is very excited about <br />the new addition. Mr. Thomas will continue to work with Tony Ware on the girl's basketball. <br />ARCHITECT - Ron DiNardo <br />Mr. DiNardo reported that the soundproof doors are installed by the auditorium. We will get the <br />trim carpenter out to finish it up and put the trim on there.
