Minutes of the Combined Caucus/Council Meeting
6-11-07
Page 9
Mr. DiNardo introduced Council to Rick Hall, who has been instrumental in assisting with the
design of the lighting and sound and stage for the auditorium. He has been a resident for a few
years here and has been helping us. Without his help, we probably would have gone a different
direction with the sound and lighting.
Mr. DiNardo advised everyone about the national solar conference at the Cleveland Convention
Center on July 8th. It is free to the public. He will get some information for packets. Since we
are doing the police station in solar panels, he thought it would be very interesting for everyone
to make time to go down there and see how this technology works and what else is new for
future projects.
HUMAN SERVICES - Eunice Kalina
Mrs. Kalina passed out a compilation of the surveys we have received thus far. We received
119. The figures don't necessarily add up because many people did not answer all of the
questions and a number answered, "No, not yet" or "Not at this time". Some said, "No, never".
But there were enough people who realized never say never to anything because we don't know.
1Vlany people were interested in transportation services down the line. We have a trip to
Hartville June 21St that we are doing in conjunction with Schnurman Luther House. It has been
closed today because it was filled. We cancelled our Erie, PA trip. We had very little response.
Bill was doing another trip to the same area. He also had very little response. Both of those
were cancelled. We have a good number of people taking our AARP safe driving class. Our
computer classes are continuing. We have 2 picnics coming up, one in July and one in August
at the new pavilion.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee - Mrs. Mills thanked everyone who volunteered for 50's night. It was an
extra special crowded event. At the popcorn stand which she was at the entire evening, we sold
about 300 boxes of popcorn. We popped about 80 bags of popcorn. We did very well as far as
the products that we had. They sold very well. Mrs. Mills gave Mrs. Betsa her opinion on some
things that we can improve on. Billy James did a real super job as far as keeping the
entertainment for the younger people and age groups. Having the dance studio there was very
good. He kept going all night, even though he had broken his foot from dropping his speakers on
it. He performed the whole show with ice packs on his foot. He is to be commended for that.
Mrs. Mills cannot say enough about the volunteers that come out and help us coordinate all of
this. They are special people. Our concerts start this Thursday the 14th. Please participate in
that. Mark your calendars for the fireworks on June 30th. The Committee has done a super job
in helping plan all of these events for the summer.
Architectural Review Board - Mr: Marrelli reported that the Board met on May 24th and
reviewed the police station exterior design and an addition at 849 Worton Park.
