Minutes of the Council Meeting
September 24, 2007
Page 2
COMIVIENTS FROM MAYOR RINI<ER
Mayor Rinker stated that everyone should have gotten a little bit of a taste of the situation with the
new police facility. This will be addressed momentarily. Mr. Cappello will report on the update on
the work on Metro. The underpass under Highland is in real good shape. It is starting to come
together there. The pathwork should be in soon on that. We are getting some overtures on
Progressive with Campus III. We expect to see some activity there probably in the next few weeks. If
you have not taken a look yet, defuutely take a look at the auditorium. It is looking fantastic. Seats
will be coming in this week. Ron and John and Debbie have been working behind the scenes. It is
beautiful.
CONIlVIENTS FROM COUNCII, PRESIDENT BZJCKHOLTZ
Mr. Buckholtz had no comment at this time.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
SERVICE - Douglas Metzun?
Mr. Metzung reported that he received a MARCS radio from the State of Ohio. He cannot even
begin to tell you all of its capabilities. Cuyahoga County is the only one in Ohio so far that has distributed radios to service
departments. The radio has a number of channels and we are presently figuring out how it
works. The service directors who put this together, especially Mr. Girardi from Pepper Pike and
George Hunt from Brookpark, are going to schedule training classes so that everyone becomes
fluent in it eventually. Leaf season will begin in approximately one month, around the third
week in October.
SUILDING - John Marrelli
Mr. Marrelli had no report this evening, other than what was discussed two weeks ago. The
hotel has started on 700 Beta. The theater is on its homestretch. The outside of the building is
coming along nicely.
ENGINEERING - Tom Capnello
Mr. Cappello reported that the restoration of Metro Park and Zorn is complete. They went
through and addressed the one or two minor final punchlist items. Otherwise, it is substantially
completed. Restoration of Highland Road began last week. They are moving along fairly well.
They should be complete in another week or so. The underpass is 95% done. They just need to
