This week the digging of the actual <br />path that comes out of the underpass will begin. <br />LEGAL DEPARTMENT - Joe Diemert <br />There was no report. <br />FIRE - Lieutenant Girbino <br />Lieutenant Girbino reported that the firefighters collected over $4,000.00 for MDA over Labor <br />Day weekend. That is the best we have ever done. Everyone offered their congratulations. Fire <br />prevention week starts soon. Free classes at the Fire Safety House are scheduled with the entire <br />third grade at Center School, the first grade and the third grade at St. Francis. <br />' FINANCE - Philip Brett <br />Mr. Brett introduced Ted Esborn, Mr. Brett's intern. He will be concentrating on grants, <br />working with the Innovation Zone and basically preparing for an eventual transition in the <br />finance department, training in all facets so that he could step in in the event something should <br />happen. We are applying for Issue II grants. It is on the agenda this evening. The first one is for <br />the realignment of Raleigh Drive with Beta Drive. The second one is the reconstruction of the <br />Thornapple pump station. The third one is the reconstruction of Seneca Drive. That will be in <br />front of you this evening. Mr. Brett has also put in fr ont of everyone a letter from the Treasurer <br />of the Mayfield City School District explaining where the $100,000.00 went to last year per the <br />request of some of the members of the Tax Incentive Review Committee. The Committee met <br />and recommended the approval of all of the existing TIFs and the one that is going to come on <br />line this year, which will be the Skoda, Minotti TIF. Mr. Brett would expect at the October <br />Council meeting we will have the Tax Incremental Finance Ordinance for the OMNI Hotel. <br />POLICE - Chief Dearden <br />Chief Dearden reported that on the agenda tonight you may have noticed a motion to reject the <br />bids that were presented in Phase I of the police facility package which is the sitework and <br />foundation. A memo was provided in packets over the weekend discussing the most recent <br />unfortunate turn of events. We are beginning a series of ineetings with Marous and RCU as the <br />architects. We are trying to put together a plan of action with a list of options that we can present <br />to Council in the near future for discussion on which direction we should take with this project. <br />,
