Minutes of the Council Meeting
September 24, 2007
Page 4
PARKS & RECREATION
Mr. Thomas reported that the annual Polar Express train ride in November sold three coaches in
a day and a half. That is 80 seats per coach. Village residents and school district residents'
registration was taken first. We did not even get to non-school district residents. We have 65
girls signed up for the Mayfield Volleyball Association. This is the largest attendance we have
ever had. It is being supervised by our varsity volleyball coach Nadine Hayes and the varsity
girls players. Our first adaptive Friday night game night will be at the high school this Friday
from 6-8. We expect about 40 persons with disabilities attending. We have 20 students and 20
parents taking our first time offering of fly fishing at Deep Spring Trout Club this Saturday. We
actually had to dip into our waiting list. We were able to take those students. Finally, on Friday,
September 21St we had our second annual Mayfield Village Employees' Friends Golf Outing. It
was held at Pine Ridge. The winning team was Doug Metzung, George Maher, Mayor Rinker
and his friend. It was rigged in some way, but they had a great game. We are looking forward to
doing it again on September 19, 2008.
ARCHITECT - Ron DiNardo
There was no report.
HUMAN SERVICES - Eunice Kalina
Mrs. Kalina reported that flu shot registrations will take place on Monday and Friday of next
week in Civic Hall. Flu shots will be administered on Friday, October 26th. If anyone is
interested, let them know. Debbie Thomas was kind enough to put it on the marquee today. Of
course, it went out in our newsletter. We have some senior programs on Wednesdays. We
started off last week with Social Security. This week we have maximizing your memory
presented by University Hospitals. A big turnout is expected. Friday, there is a trip scheduled
with the Recreation Department to Atwood Lake and Roscoe Village. We have exactly one seat
left on the bus. October 17th, we are going to the covered bridges in Ashtabula County and
Tarsitanno Winery. That trip is also almost booked. There are a couple other trips planned later
in November. Mr. Marrie asked if the times for the sign-up axe on the marquee. Mrs. Kalina
said it was. Registration will take place Monday morning from 9:00-11:00 and Friday the 5t'
from 1:00-3:00.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee - Mrs. Mills reported that a meeting was held in September. The
Committee discussed 50's Night, the Fourth of July, Summer Band Concerts and the Friends of
the Library concert. There was a concern about rain dates for the summer concerts. They
discussed the possibility of using the auditorium next year in the event of rain. They discussed
