Minutes of the Council Meeting <br />November 26, 2007 <br />Page 5 <br />POLICE - Chief Dearden <br />There was no report. <br />PARKS & RECREATION <br />Mr. Thomas reported that hopefully all have received the Winter Parks and Recreation brochure. <br />It has been distributed. As a result of that, we are now starting to plan for our spring/suminer <br />programs. Parkview Pool will open up in approximately six months and two weeks, on Monday, <br />June 9th, weather permitting. <br />ARCHITECT - Ron DiNardo <br />There was no report. <br />HUMAN SERVICES - Eunice Kalina <br />Mrs. Kalina was unable to attend the meeting. Mrs. Mills read the report Mrs. Kalina prepared. <br />It is attached to these Minutes. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Activities Committee - Mrs. Mills reported that we had our last meeting on November 7th. We <br />discussed the tree lighting scheduled for December 2°d at 7:00 p.m. The Menorah lighting is <br />scheduled for December 4th at 7:30 p.m. Senator Grendell and Grendell's Bakery has graciously <br />offered to donate the donuts for both the tree lighting and Menorah lighting. The Singing <br />Angels' Helping Hands and Singing Hearts Concert will take place on December 15th at 7:00 <br />p.m. The Winter Solstice, which is a lot of fun because you get hot dogs and they are really <br />good because Mrs. Mills cooks them, will take place on Friday, December 21St at 6:00 p.m. <br />There will be a mitten tree at Charter One and a canned food drive. You can drop off your <br />canned food either here at the Civic Center or at the police department. We also touched on the <br />Appreciation Dinner which is scheduled for March 15, 2008. <br />Architectural Review Board - There was no meeting. There is no report. <br />Beautification - Mr. Saponaro reported that the Beautification Committee has had a few <br />meetings over the past month. They interviewed nurseries for the plantings for 2008. You will <br />find in your packets and on the agenda tonight a recommendation for approval by the Finance <br />Committee for hanging baskets and plantings from Eagle Creek Garden Center. We also have <br />members of the Beautification Committee in the audience. Mr. Saponaro asked them all to stand <br />up. These people worked extremely hard at trying to work on what we have done last year and <br />build upon that to make our Village beautiful. There has been a lot of research done on the <br />various communities, garden centers and nurseries and the types of flowers. They have done an <br />excellent job in addition to the excellent work that we have done here for the on and off ramps at <br />271. They have done a terrific job with everything in terms of the 2008 flowers and baskets. We
