Minutes of the Council Meeting
November 26, 2007
Page 5
POLICE - Chief Dearden
There was no report.
PARKS & RECREATION
Mr. Thomas reported that hopefully all have received the Winter Parks and Recreation brochure.
It has been distributed. As a result of that, we are now starting to plan for our spring/suminer
programs. Parkview Pool will open up in approximately six months and two weeks, on Monday,
June 9th, weather permitting.
ARCHITECT - Ron DiNardo
There was no report.
HUMAN SERVICES - Eunice Kalina
Mrs. Kalina was unable to attend the meeting. Mrs. Mills read the report Mrs. Kalina prepared.
It is attached to these Minutes.
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee - Mrs. Mills reported that we had our last meeting on November 7th. We
discussed the tree lighting scheduled for December 2°d at 7:00 p.m. The Menorah lighting is
scheduled for December 4th at 7:30 p.m. Senator Grendell and Grendell's Bakery has graciously
offered to donate the donuts for both the tree lighting and Menorah lighting. The Singing
Angels' Helping Hands and Singing Hearts Concert will take place on December 15th at 7:00
p.m. The Winter Solstice, which is a lot of fun because you get hot dogs and they are really
good because Mrs. Mills cooks them, will take place on Friday, December 21St at 6:00 p.m.
There will be a mitten tree at Charter One and a canned food drive. You can drop off your
canned food either here at the Civic Center or at the police department. We also touched on the
Appreciation Dinner which is scheduled for March 15, 2008.
Architectural Review Board - There was no meeting. There is no report.
Beautification - Mr. Saponaro reported that the Beautification Committee has had a few
meetings over the past month. They interviewed nurseries for the plantings for 2008. You will
find in your packets and on the agenda tonight a recommendation for approval by the Finance
Committee for hanging baskets and plantings from Eagle Creek Garden Center. We also have
members of the Beautification Committee in the audience. Mr. Saponaro asked them all to stand
up. These people worked extremely hard at trying to work on what we have done last year and
build upon that to make our Village beautiful. There has been a lot of research done on the
various communities, garden centers and nurseries and the types of flowers. They have done an
excellent job in addition to the excellent work that we have done here for the on and off ramps at
271. They have done a terrific job with everything in terms of the 2008 flowers and baskets. We
