Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, October 17, 2016
Page 4
efforts of the Library have truly enriched our lives in a great way with the changes and keeping
up with the tunes. Thank you for that, Bill.
I also wanted to mention on October 6th, our very own Mary Singer was honored by the Hillcrest
Rotary Club with their Humanitarian of the Year Award. For those of you who know Mary, she
plans and executes our Memorial Day Services each year, putting thousands of flags on the
graves of Veterans and does a great service. She also volunteers a great amount of her time with
Senior Citizens in other groups. That was a very well-deserved award.
The following night, on October 7t~', we had our Volunteer Appreciation Night here at our new
Community Room and we honored as Outstanding Citizens, Ruth Petche, Mary Murphy, who is
right here with us tonight, for her efforts on behalf of Mayfield Village and we also honored with
an Outstanding Citizen Award Bruce Rinker and we were honored to rename the Greenway Trail
as "The Bruce G. Rinker Greenway Trail" for all of the time and effort and passion he put in to
developing that trail for us.
C®MMENTS PROM C®UNCII, PRESIDENT SAP®NAR®
Council President Saponaro wanted to make everyone aware that our next Caucus meeting on
November 7th will be in Reserve Hall in order to prepare for voting in this room. That also will
be the same night we have the Public Hearing on the 730 SOM property. That will take place at
7:00. Caucus will meet in Reserve Hall at 8:00 instead of here.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REP®RTS:
Diane Wolgamuth (Administration): Thank you. I just have a few quick things. I think
everyone knows that we made arrangements with the Cleveland Institute of Music to do a music
series here. The difficulty that I am finding is that because we are dealing with students, we will
never know until the week before what the concert is going to be and who will be performing.
This Thursday, we have a trombone quartet. It sounds like it is going to be fabulous. It's just
hard to get word out quickly to all residents and now you may have noticed we don't have the
marquee board. That has been taken down in anticipation of the new signage, so any help
anyone can provide; Mr. Rubin, I can probably send the program to you.
Mr. Rubin stated, sure.
On the signage, the masonry work is expected to start this week.
The final thing I wanted to mention is we will also have a public meeting on November 14th, the
week after the Caucus at the Community Room. The purpose of this public meeting is for the
bandshell that we would like to construct for The Grove. We are going to the County for funding
and part of the funding requirements are that we have a public meeting. That is November 14th
at 7:00 p.m. at the Community Room.
