Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, November 21, 2016 <br />Page 4 <br />William Thomas (Parks and Recreation) - <br />Commission on Aging -The next meeting will be held on January 12, 2017 at 11:00 in <br />the Community Room. Discussion will be on the. holiday party recap, programs and trips.. <br />Parks and Recreation Board -The Board met on Wednesday, November 9th' at 7:00 here <br />at the Civic Center. We discussed the Youth Halloween Party. Everyone on the Board <br />thought it went extremely well. What we did this year was we asked everyone to pre- <br />register so we knew how many Mayfield Village residents or seniors and their <br />grandchildren were coming. We also distributed a hard copy flier to Center School to <br />announce it. Approximately 50 children attended with their parents and grandparents. The <br />Santa Ride is coming up on Saturday, December 10th at 10:00 a.m. until approximately <br />1:30 p.m. if we are on time. The party starts at 1:30 and goes unti13:00. That will beheld <br />in this room. The next meeting will be January 18th at 7:00 here at the Civic Center. <br />Senior Services - As of today, we have received 232 snow applications to opt in and now <br />we have 75 opt outs. I just received one from that gentleman in the back row. The next <br />Community Partnership on Aging Lunch N Movie will be on Wednesday, December 7th. <br />The cost is $5.00. Reservations must be made the week before by calling the CPA. There <br />will be a trip to Higbee's Silver Grill on December 7th. There is still time to register. The <br />next Foot Clinic will be on the 9th of December here at the Civic Center. The Holiday Party <br />for Village Seniors age 60 and over will be held on December 9th. It will be from 12:00- <br />3:00 in the Community Room. Reservations are due by November 30th. The December <br />Lunch N Movie at Governor's Village is on Wednesday, December 21St. The movie is <br />Miracle on 34th Street. Session II of Spanish lessons will begin this month. Watercolor <br />painting will be holding a 2-week class in December. The Bereavement Group continues <br />to meet. There will be a second session of Bridge Lessons in January. The arthritic exercise <br />will resume in April. New sessions of cooking and baking classes and knitting and <br />crocheting will also be scheduled. One stroke painting will begin in January. Several <br />residents will have their yards raked this month by Gates Mills Horticultural Ceriter, <br />Cornerstone Church and Village resident Paul Lynch. Last but not least, the Watercolor <br />Art Show with the students from Flo Smith's watercolor class will be held during <br />November and December. Pictures are on display in the hallway. • <br />Chief Richard Edelman (Police): Thank you. Just a few comments about this past summer's <br />bike patrol. As you know, we resurrected the bike patrol this summer from its original inception <br />from 1991 at which point, a young patrolman named Rich Edelman was the bike-patrol officer. <br />We budgeted $10,000 this past year for the bike patrol. I think we spent a little less than $8,000 <br />out of that $10,000. Most of that was for training and new uniforms. I didn't want to buy new <br />bikes this year because it was a startup program and new bikes would have taken up most of that <br />$10,000. I didn't want to use up all that money on something we were not sure was going to get <br />off the ground. We used 20 year old bikes that Chief Stevens purchased a number of years ago <br />
