Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, June 20, 2016 <br />P age 4 <br />Oral Proclamation Honoring the Cleveland CAVALIERS <br />Mayor Bodnar stated, on Uehalf of Mayfield Village, I want to extend all of our Congratulations <br />to the National Basketball Association Chainpioils, the Cleveland CAVALIERS on giving <br />Northeast Ohio it's first national sports championship in over 50 years. I lcnow that Cleveland <br />is celebrating with a victoiy parade on Wednesday, June 22°d and I would like to invite all <br />Village employees to wear your CAVS spirit wear and CAVS gear to work on Wednesday and <br />also remember you want to set your electronic devices to record so that you can watch that <br />parade just as soon as you get home fi-om work. <br />Council took a break for refreslunents at 8:10 p.m. <br />Council reconvened at 8:18 p.m. <br />COIVIMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDEN'T SAPONARO <br />Chainnan Saponaro reminded everyone that the July Caucus is scheduled for July llt" because <br />of the July 4U' holiday. <br />DEPART1\1ENT HEAD REPOI2TS: <br />William Thomas (Parks and Recreation) - First of all, we had our annual Cruise Night on <br />Sunday, June 12"' at Progressive Campus II and our soccer fields. I wanted to publicly thanlc <br />Rich and his staff for a great job of enforcing everything and Mike and Gino and our staff in the <br />Fire Department, Doug and his crew that did a great job of setting up and taking down in record <br />time. They finished by 12:30 a.m. You guys did a great job. My staff did a great job and <br />everybody that volunteered, we thanlc everybody for all of their efforts. We had a little over <br />6,000 individuals that attended and we had over 700 antique cars that were there cruising. We <br />will be looking at next year and where we are going to be. A lot of discussion will take place for <br />Ci-uise Night next year. We have averaged 182 individuals daily at our pool since we have <br />opened. We have 3,451 individuals that have come through Parkview Pool. We opened up <br />about a week and a half earlier than we did last year because school let out so early. <br />. Senior Services - The next CPA lunch and inovie will be on Wednesday, July 13"'. Tl1e <br />movie is My Big Fat Greeli iVeddiizg 2. The cost is $5. Reservations must be made by the <br />week before by calling CPA. The July lunch and movie at Govei7ior's Village is on <br />Wednesday, July 20th . The movie is Foi- the Love of the Game and the cost is $5. <br />Reservations must be made by the week before by calling our Senior Services <br />department. Seniors enjoyed their trip to the Phantoin of tlze Opera on June 16`". They <br />had a full busload. The next trip will be co-opped with Orange going to Atu1 Arbor Art <br />Fair on 7uly 21 St. The July foot clinics will be on the lst and 15t" of July. <br />Joe Diemert (Legal Department) - NO report, Mr. President, other than the letter I gave out to <br />Council this evening. The P1amling Commission, concei7zing the property at 730 SOM Center, <br />had its first meeting with the property owner and his ]awyer. They need to do more research and <br />put together different plans and they have asked for an extension of tiine. The Planning
