Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, March 18, 2013 <br />Page 3 <br />. Mayfield Village Patrolman and K-9 I3andler Chris Cross <br />. Mayfield Village K-9 Officer Leo <br />Chief Edelman stated, Officer Cross is an officer of the Mayfield Village Police Department. <br />During his tenure with us, he has served on the SWAT team as a Field Training Officer and as a <br />Range Officer. After going through an arduous selection process, Chris was selected as a K-9 <br />Officer. His partner is Leo, a 15 month old German Shepherd from the Czech Republic. <br />Officer Cross stated, Leo and I went through an 8 week training class through Excel K-9. Paul <br />Shaughnessy is the trainer for that. Leo was trained in narcotics detection and is a dual purpose <br />police dog. He is certified in handling protection, building searches, area searches and evidence <br />collection. . <br />Ms. Calta administered the oaths of office to Officer Cross and K-9 Officer Leo. <br />Council took a break for refreshments at approximately 8:10 p.m. <br />Council reconvened at approximately 8:25 p.m. <br />COMMENTS FROM MAYOR RINKER <br />There were no comments. <br />COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BUCKHOLTZ <br />There were no comments. <br />DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS: <br />SERVICE - Douglas Metzung <br />Mr. Metzung reported, we are doing a fairly significant change in our lawn care this year. I have <br />Alec McClennan from Good Nature. If you have any questions about the program, he will be <br />able to answer them much more than I can. Other than that, I have nothing to report this <br />evemng. <br />Council President Buckholtz asked what the fundamental differences were. <br />Mr. Metzung stated, we used to call our old program a fertilizer program. Now we are calling it <br />a lawn care program. <br />Council President Buckholtz sta.ted, it's natural. <br />Mr. Metzung agreed. It's a natural program.
