Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council
Monday, July 16, 2012
Page 8
wasn't feasible. T he individual communities wanted to take on that responsibility. With times
being as they are now, we thought it was a good time to revisit that. We found out that Cuyahoga
County is making money available to groups like SPAN for feasibility studies so we have
applied for this money and get some funding to help with the feasibility study. We will proceed
at that point. I will keep everybody posted as that moves forward.
PARKS & RECREATION - Bill Thomas
Mr. Thomas reported, I left everybody our June stats for Parkview Pool. Hopefully you looked
at it. I guess I would say, what a difference a year makes. If you just look at admission totals
from 2011, if you recall, it was probably the wettest Spring/Summer in the history of Northeast
Ohio and we are now in probably the hottest period of tixne since I can recall in 1988 when I had
to cancel fireworks in Shaker Heights. We have 2027 more participants than we had last year.
Things are looking up at the pool.
I wanted to give a quick Senior Service redport. We had a full bus of people enjoying the Trolley
Tour of Cleveland. That was on June 22n . I went and had a great time. I learned things about
Cleveland I never realized. We had lunch at University Inn. Seats are still available for our trips
to The Wilds and to Amish Country in October. This Fall, in conjunction with the Community
Partnership on Aging we will hold lunch and a movie matinee here at the Civic Center. We will
also hold Hollywood short films of the Depression era. That is going to be on November 7t".
ARCHITECT - Ron Dinardo
There was no report.
PLANNING DEPARTMENT - Ted Esborn
Mr. Esborn reported, back in January, Mayfield Village became the 18th municipality in the
County to sign the so-called anti-poaching protocol. I wanted to give an update on that because
at the time there was some concern about how many communities had signed on and which of
the communities had signed on. At this point now, 42 communities have signed on out of 59
communities in the County. Wlien we signed on, the City of Cleveland had not yet signed. They
have signed now. We were a little bit concerned at the time because some of the larger
commercial municipalities in the County had not signed on yet, but now Bedford, Independence,
Solon, Strongsville and Westlake have signed on. It's a pretty strong protocol right now. I am
keeping in touch with Ed Jerse at the County so that we can be involved in the Council that pools
resources when it comes to economic development.
ADMINISTRATION - Diane Wolgamuth

There was nothing to report.
