Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council Monday, November 17, 2014 Page 9 1 Council President Buckholtz asked, is it less of a proactive tool and more of if something happened, you could go back and trace? Mr. Diemert replied, I think that's how it started out, going backwards looking for things, but they found it could be useful for preventative. Chief Edelman added, certainly it started as a way to solve crimes. It's evolved. What we found is that using these certain keywords it is helpful in a way of locating problem areas and suspects we know are in the area. Mr. Diemert replied, the Chief mentioned, there are so many stupid criminals out there who will talk about on their facebook that they were shooting out street lights. You put in "shooting out street lights" and you can find out who the guys were. Mr. Diemert added, the policy is as enforceable as anything that Council will do. The Police Department is the only ones who are going to be able to use it. Council President Buckholtz asked, it doesn't get adopted in the Codified Ordinances? Mr. Diemert replied, no. We may want to after you get the periodic reports on how well it is working or any problems that have developed. Council President Buckholtz asked, any other conversation or questions? Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Saponaro, made a motion to authorize expenditure in the amount of $6,900 to King Excavating for drainage at the Falkner property. Mayor Rinker stated, that's the property.
