Caucus/Regular Council Mtg.
7-14-03
Page 11
program. The opening just grabbed everyone's attention which was great. I don't know if we can ~
get the same deal for $10;000 next year but what I would suggest is whatever it takes to do it
again, that that be the amount that we put to it. Very good timing. Tons of good volunteers, tons
of participants; a very good night.
Mrs. Roman expressed special. thanks to Ralph Vara of the Activities committee for his help with
the fireworks, Chris Casey for helping us find new entertainers like the storyteller [from the
Metroparks] and the Toy Soldier, and all the other committee members who helped plan and
staff the event. We had to cancel our first concert because of rain. It should've been last
Thursday. There will be a concert this Thursday if it doesn't rain and concerts should continue
through July and August from 7-9 p.m. at the Gazebo.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said the Architectural Review Board met June 12.
They had one case-it was 2 additions to asingle-family dwelling.
Board of Appeals- Mr. Samac said a meeting was held on the 17~h. There were 2 variance
requests: one was for 2 signs for setback variances for Mt. Vernon at Beta and S.O.M. Center
Road for some temporary signs and one variance granted for a setback of a sign on Wilson Mills
Road.
Cemetery -Mrs. Mills said the Garden Club continues to do their garden work at the Cemetery. .
and also at the Historical House. Mrs. Mills said I would like the records to reflect that our ~ ~.
insurance rate was raised from $281 to $500 for the liability insurance for the cemetery this year. f
Phil and I worked very diligently trying to get a better price and it is just not available. Most
insurance companies will only write $500 insurance policies.
Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Riter said there was no report.
Commission on Aging -Mrs. Mills read the report from Mrs. Kalina, attached.
Safety and Service -Mrs. Cinco said Safety & Service met tonight along with the Finance
Committee. Seeing that there is duplication of items, I will do that report as we reach each
agenda item.
Finance Committee -Mrs. Mills said the committee recommended items 1, 2, 3 & 4 (to rescind
the motion to United Rental for the purchase of a single drum roller. that was approved 8-21-02
for $9,750 mainly because they were unable to load and unload the roller onto the new truck.)
The recommended approval of item #5-changing the amount not to exceed to $11,500 to
Marshall Equipment Company. The trade-in value would be $2,700. We recommended items 6,
7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12. Regarding item #13, we decided to extend the contract to the 4 people
that had contracted from last year (for snow removal.) We have deferred action on item #17
(Resolution 2003-02) for a resolution for the new Convention Center in downtown Cleveland for
further discussion. We recommended to reject the bid from Bill's Auto and accept the bid of
$227.26 from Gary Suki (the 2nd highest bid; the highest bidder did not want a salvage car.) We
recommended Item #17 for approval re Teen Camp; we get reimbursement for that. -
