Caucus/Regular Council Mtg. 7-14-03 Page 4 Mrs. Mills said no, it's not; we are in good constructive planning. Council President Buckholtz said excellent. We will defer that to next month and we will talk amongst ourselves. Council President Buckholtz asked Mrs. Roman to take a roll call and said he will call the Regular Council Meeting to order. ROLL CALL: Present: Mr. Buckholtz, Mrs. Cinco, Mr. Marquardt, Mr. Marrie, Mrs. Mills, Dr. Parker, and Mr. Riter Absent: None Also Present: Mayor Rinker, Mr. Brett, Mr. Cappello, Chief Dearden, Mr. Diemert, Chief Mohr, Mr. Samac, Mr. Thomas and Mrs. Roman The Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag was given. The Regular Meeting of Council began at 8:54 p.m. Mr. Marrie said a suggestion, I don't know if it can or can't be done-but to our Police Department-our detour signs-of adding something to that as ROAD IS OPEN TO _ _y THORNAPPLE AND FISHER'S TAVERN. I happen to be down there and there is a lot of confusion where people are pulling down there and turning around in the driveways; they are turning around on Thornapple. I happened to be there today and there was much confusion. Then a couple of people literally saw the detour signs, went around, followed it, got to the other end and went to turn right on S.O.M. and of course they're right back in the ballgame again. There was a lot of conversation going on about that so just a suggestion maybe-I've seen it at other places at other times-but maybe put a sign there. I don't know if it's right or wrong but I would think it would stop some of the confusion and the turning around in the driveway. Mrs. Mills said Mr. Bernot and I have been in discussion as well as the Mayor about this and we are trying to eliminate those problems with signage. People just don't follow instructions about what is closed and what's open. Mr. Marrie said I just happened to be there when there was a lot of confusion. Didn't know you were talking about signs. Mrs. Mills said we were in discussion about that on Friday and the signs are in the process of being made. They will be put up. Council President Buckholtz said as long as you've brought that up, I'd like my first official comment for the Chief to be that I've been up and down Wilson Mills all times of rush hour, morning, afternoon, the last couple of days, and I've got to tell you, it's phenomenal.
