Regular & Caucus Minutes <br />8-18-03 <br />Page 6 <br />Chief Patrick Dearden (Police) - Chief Dearden reported that regarding the petition for a traffic <br />study at Raleigh and Wilson Mills, at the July meeting he reported that he had submitted a grant <br />application to the Governor's Office; we should have an answer on that by September 20. He <br />will keep Council advised about discussion with Highland Heights to outfit all boxes from Beta <br />Drive to Lander Road with receptacles... <br />Council President Buckholtz suggested a meeting be coordinated for all departments to discuss <br />items such as the generator situation and to look at our options. <br />William Thomas (Parks & Recreation) - Mr. Thomas said the summer programs are coming to <br />a close. It has been the wettest spring/summer we have seen in years. A championship game for <br />men's adult softball was scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Thursday and the lights came back on at <br />7:38 p.m. so they were able to play. The excursions have gone very well. Parkview Pool will <br />close Sunday. Pass-holders will be honored at Mayfield Heights. The trap shooting program has <br />been canceled because the owner is having surgery. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Activities Committee -Mrs. Roman reported that the Music on the Green concert was canceled <br />because of the power outage. [Note: The Joe Mayer Orchestra has been rescheduled for <br />September 4.] The Committee will meet in September to prepare for future events. <br />-~ Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said the Architectural Review Board approved one <br />sign at its last meeting. <br />Board of Auueals - Mr. Samac said the Board of Appeals considered 2 variances for a sign <br />setback; both were granted. <br />Cemetery -There was no report. <br />Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Riter said they will meet Saturday September 6. James Draper <br />will discuss emergency preparedness at a luncheon/meeting. He will report back to Council on <br />what Mr. Draper had to say. <br />Commission on A~in~ -Mrs. Cinco read the report from Mrs. Kalina for Mrs. Mills. (attached). <br />Safety and Service/Finance Committee -Mrs. Cinco said Safety & Service held a combined <br />meeting this evening with Finance so she will report on both. The Committee recommended <br />Items # 1-14. Regarding item 7 for snow removal, the committee recommends awarding 3 <br />sections to A&G at $150/drive; one section to SummerBreeze at $160/drive; 2 sections to <br />Xtreme at $192/drive; and 2 sections to Perfecturf at $169.20/drive. We had some discussion <br />about not taking just the lowest bid. We were cognizant there are new bidders and want to see <br />how they do. <br />Council President Buckholtz asked how many sections Summerbreeze will have. <br />
