Special Council Meeting
9-29-03
Page 3
Mr. Riter said to look at the next page, it will show you how those things were calculated and the
prevailing wage-the unit of labor figure seems to be where the discrepancy is calculated wrong.
Council President Buckholtz said it is obvious there was a mistake and asked if there was any
further discussion. There was no additional discussion so Council President Buckholtz requested
a roll call.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
ANY OTHER MATTER BEFORE COUNCH.
Mr. Riter requested for the November Caucus that we get some type of report it was a little
over a year ago or about a year ago that we gave a contract to a company to evaluate all of our
communication systems and we've heard nothing back from them. I had occasion to see a
County Sanitary Engineer's truck do some damage to a couple of our roads earlier this week and
in trying to get to Bernie and Doug it was like a physical impossibility and I would like to see
what those folks are doing in finding out how we are communicating.
~l Council President Buckholtz said you lost me in terms of the County truck---
l Mr. Riter said I called into the main switchboard, was sent to Bernie, ended up in his voicemail;
when I dialed the operator instead of going back to the main switchboard, I ended up with a
police dispatcher who couldn't then get me to Doug; I had to redial which got me back into
Village Hall which then sent me to Doug which then Doug wasn't in the office so then I had to
dial back to the main switchboard to get Doug's cell phone and then had to call Doug. It was
kind of frustrating; especially when you are driving with one hand and trying to dial a cell
phone-all because I am chasing a County Engineer truck that is driving with their ramps down
as they are pulling a trailer and every 6' I am watching the ramp dig into our concrete roads and
cringing-so I would like to know what is happening with that. I think this has been an
appropriate period of time to say listen, guys, if you haven't done anything you've got 6-8 weeks
to bring it to Council.. .
Council President Buckholtz said they have a report that is prepared and I will definitely make
sure that they come in and I will get it in everybody s hands prior to the Caucus.
Several other Council members said they would like to see the report and Mr. Marrie asked: it
wasn't presented to anybody?
Council President Buckholtz said we talked to them; I had a meeting with them and looked at
what they had done but what isn't there is sort of the recommendations of what we could really
do. They looked at the cost-cutting, they looked at what we are really spending, they inventoried
all the equipment, but the particular thing-and that was all that they were originally hired to do.
