11-17-03
Regular Council Minutes
Page 14
ROUGHDRAFT -NOT REVIEWED OR APPROVED BY COUNCIL
baseline or the third baseline depending on where you put home plate. But once you flip the field
over, we've got to look at what the lighting change is going to be, what that cost is going to entail.
But I think we need to look very seriously at doing that because it presents the opportunity then on
the outfield which will now be close to S.O.M. and close to the residences there. We can add
landscaping as well. So what I told Bill is envision if we could do that-the sense of landscaping on
the east side and on the west side so you have a feeling that you are really amidst a park that is on
both sides of the road. Again, part of this is looking at a couple of potential directions we could take.
Mr. Marquardt asked, was there any other company other than Rhodes Dahl considered?
Mayor Rinker said no, there wasn't. I will be very blunt. The reason why--I've run into Bill on a
couple of instances where he did work with the Pattie Group and just having talked to him I thought
here's a chance for somebody who is very conversant. He joined Rhodes Dahl just this year. They
are the ones who have been involved with the Botanical Garden. I felt that what would be an
opportune time for him to be able to address this group is to present the package really just for this
proposal. At that point, I think, candidly, if you want to say look, we really should shop around for a
couple of other people, then we can do it. Again, for me, it is starting somewhere. It is someone who
is a proven commodity. I think you'll find that this is a person who is really quite capable. He is very
familiar. He is very well known within the Chagrin Valley area. A conservancy of people are
familiar with him. But, no; he's the only one.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there were any further comments or questions.
There were none.
Roll Call: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Expenditure Authorized
^ A motion to authorize an expenditure not to exceed $3,500 to Ballash Press for the
Winter issue of the Voice of the Village
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mrs. Cinco, made a motion to authorize an expenditure not to exceed $3,500
to Ballash Press for the Winter issue of the Voice of the Village.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion.
