We are making rounds
throughout the Village in less than 3 days. Typically it is 5-7 or 8 days. I am proud of our guys.
The good weather has allowed us to get much of our holiday lighting displays up so after
Thanksgiving we will just have the Gazebo area to complete.
Building - Mr. Samac reported the Progressive projects-both the parking garage and the office
building are progressing smoothly.
Fire -Chief Mohr said we were busy with the storm the other night with the wind. All the city
buildings were on generator power for most of the night. We had power outages where the
residents were without power until Thursday afternoon, Thursday night. Our generator at city
~ hall paid for itself because it ran continuously until about 10 a.m. The Community Room was
open to residents as shelter but no one took advantage of that. The project where we have placed
generators on the traffic signals has worked very well. I recommend we do that with the rest of
the signals-that we buy a small generator to sit next to the pole and operate the traffic signal.
Mayor Rinker said Hickory Hill was the street stranded for the longest time. Did we every get
any final word on why.
Chief Mohr said no. I put a phone call into a representative of C.E.I. We are playing phone tag.
According to what was stated the next morning from the storm was that they need to change out
the transformers due to the fact that the wires fell and cross-phased and blew out the ground
transformers. They actually need to take those out and replace those with fresh ones.
Council President Buckholtz asked how many homes were without power.
Chief Mohr said probably a good half of the community, .Wednesday night.
Mrs. Mills said it seemed it was the north end.
Police -Chief Dearden said we received notification that our FEMA grant application was
approved. We should be receiving the funds which will cover the cost that we incurred from the
August blackout within the next 4-6 weeks.
~'
