11-17-03 <br />Regular Council Minutes <br />Page 5 <br />~, ROUGHDRAFT -NOT REVIEWED OR APPROVED BY COUNCIL <br />Parks & Recreation - Mr. Thomas said the winter Parks & Recreation Brochure should be at all <br />the homes in the Village by now. The weather has been good. Construction has started on the 2 <br />ball diamonds south of Parkview. The Service Department has begun to lay out the outdoor ice <br />rink. On December 27 from 1-3 we will have our first Ice Daze, weather permitting. We are <br />accepting ideas for Spring/Summer [activities] We've had a suggestion to offer a clinic for Girls' <br />Fast Pitch Softball and are working on that now. <br />STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS <br />Activities Committee -Mrs. Roman said the Committee has not met since the last Council <br />meeting. We will meet the first Wednesday in December to discuss the tree Lighting Ceremony <br />which is that following Sunday. <br />Architectural Review Board - Mr. Samac said the ARB met November 13 and looked at a new <br />house for Village Trails, an addition to an existing home and the addition for the Skoda, Minotti <br />property. The addition to the home was approved, the new home was preliminarily approved on <br />Village Trail along with Skoda, Minotti addition. They will be back at the next meeting or two to <br />submit some more detailed information with regards to colors and materials for both projects. <br />Board of Anneals - Mr. Samac said we had no meeting since the last report. <br />Cemetery -Mrs. Mills said the Horticulture students were at the Cemetery and Historical House <br />today. I will be putting up some holiday wreaths probably on December 1 sc when we decorate <br />the Village. <br />Citizen's Advisory Board -Council President Buckholtz said there was a meeting and Mr. Riter <br />reported on it at Caucus. Mrs. Cinco read an excerpt from the Caucus minutes with the report. <br />Commission on A~in~ -Mrs. Mills read the report from Eunice Kalina (attached to the <br />minutes.) <br />Safety and Service -Mrs. Cinco said Safety & Service met November 10. Chief Dearden <br />recommended the purchase of 4 cars this year and further recommends going to a 4-3 cycle. He <br />explained we were always doing this--keeping a car an extra year when we probably shouldn't <br />have. The resale value is higher if we can get rid of them before they reach 80,000. We had <br />quite a discussion on this. Further information was received this evening at Finance Committee. <br />We have decided to go with 3 vehicles this year instead of 4. There will be more information <br />coming on that with other minutes. The motorcycle replacement was recommended to the <br />Finance Committee. All vehicles will be with the State bidding program. Chief Mohr updated us <br />on plans for Don Porter to be retiring. Chief Mohr discussed the warning siren. We need a policy <br />for this siren. A draft policy was distributed and approved. On tonight's agenda is a generator for <br />repair because chipmunks tore it up. Also, a request for exercise equipment that the firemen have <br />~~ asked for. That is on tonight's agenda with approval by Safety & Service. Chief Mohr is <br />
