Regular Council Meeting Minutes
3-15-10
Page 16
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marrie made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2010-09.
Council President Buckholtz asked if there was any discussion. Council President
Buckholtz complimented Bill Thomas on the report.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Ordinance Enacted
First Reading of Ordinance No. 2010-10, entitled, "An Emergency Ordinance creating
certain positions and compensation related thereto for the Village's 2010 summer camp
program." Introduced by Mayor Rinker and Council as a Whole.
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marrie, made a motion to suspend the rules of Council
requiring an Ordinance to be read on three separate occasions.
ROLL CALL: AYES: All
NAYS: None
Motion Carried
Rules Suspended
Mrs. Mills, seconded by Mr. Marrie made a motion to enact Ordinance No. 2010-10
Council President Buckholtz asked Bill Thomas to give us a recap.
Mr. Thomas reported we owned and operated the camp from 1997-1999. He came on board
in 1999. The camp was at the Middle School. We were busing kids over. It was not
feasible. Our director at that time, Jim Dasher, the former athletic director, suggested, let's
move the camp over to the high school so we avoid transportation costs. Great idea. We
moved it over there. The facility was much better and more conducive for that camp. In
2001, we combined the two camps, Sports `N' More. We let Kathy Gould and the other
teachers take over the operation. We had a co-op program with Nlayfield Community
Education. In 2008, the school said, this is cost-prohibitive for recreation activities. We
were asked to take over. We thought it was the appropriate thing because we were making
money. It's been agreed by both parties and hopefully you guys feel the same way.
Mayor Rinker asked, do I understand it improves the operation and we are making a profit?
Mr. Thomas replied, that's correct.
Council President Buckholtz thanked Mr. Thomas for his report. Council President
Buckholtz asked if there were any other questions. There were none.

ROLL CALL: AYES: All Motion Carried
NAYS: None Ordinance Enacted
