Minutes of the Regular Meeting of Council <br />Monday, September 19, 2011 <br />Page 6 <br />Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Saponaro reported that Ordinance Review Committee met <br />on September 13t . At that meeting, we discussed temporary signage and signage amendments. <br />We have now given that over to the Law Department to put some framework around it. They <br />will be working with Diane on that. We also had a lengthy discussion on enforcement provisions <br />for properties that are in disrepair in our community, our blighted properties. Specifically, we <br />discussed the enforcement issues or lack of or if there are other communities that have something <br />more effective. This is based on a discussion that I had with a resident. I brought it to Diane. <br />Diane is going to look at some of our neighboring communities and other communities to see if <br />we can get some more teeth into the enforcement aspect of our ordinances so that we have better <br />opportunities to make sure that we have these properties that are in disrepair taken care of much <br />quicker. Our next meeting is the October l lth at 5:00 p.m. <br />Planning and Zonin? - Mr. Maxquardt reported that there was no meeting. There is no report. <br />Recreation Board - Mr. Marrie reported that there was no meeting. Our next meeting is <br />Wednesday, September 21St <br />SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS: <br />Information & Technology - There was no meeting. There is no report. <br />Records Commission - Mrs. Mills reported that the Commission will be meeting this <br />Wednesday at the Fire Department. In your packets there was a reminder of Community Shred <br />Day which is scheduled for October 15th from 9:00-12:00 here in the parking lot. <br />Community and Economic I)evelopment - Mr. Saponaro reported that a meeting was held on <br />September 6. At the meeting, there was discussion regarding SKF's potential tenancy at 600 <br />Beta which was looking positive. Mayor Rinker was asked to be the Master of Ceremonies by <br />Dr. Fujita from QED in honor of Dr. Inamori who was the founder of Kyocera Corporation. The <br />next item we discussed was looking at the Police Department solar project. We looked at that in <br />tertns of State funding to see if we could reinvigorate that program. The next item we discussed <br />was a proposal for an office building development at SOM and White Road which is the old <br />Midvale property. That will be going before P&Z for initial review likely in October. We also <br />discussed a future crosswallc at Highland and SOM. That's currently being reviewed by Chief <br />Edelman. We then discussed an opinion received from the Law Department regarding the <br />additional permitted uses in particular zoning classifications on Beta Drive. This issue is also <br />going to be reviewed by P&Z. There was a general discussion regarding setting policy for <br />reduced setbacks on Beta Drive and for providing grant funds or incentives to businesses and <br />property owners. We then reviewed the next steps for the Town Center including the clearing of <br />the old Village Hall and Police Department facility. The last item we discussed was the <br />renovation to the Civic Center including creation of Council Chambers, restroom upgrades and a <br />more affordable floor extension for the auditorium to address fire code issues and provide more <br />flexibility to the space. <br />Are there any questions on anything we discussed?
