DRAFT
Regular Council Meeting
9/26/05
Page 3
something we might want to pursue a little bit more and we will try to get more information
about it and look for ways that we might be able to even augment what we have been doing for
fellow Americans.
The other point Mayor Rinker wanted to bring up is that he. noticed that a number of people are
going to be attending the Planning Conference later this week and he is really gratified we have
a good diverse mix of people who are going. We are going to be well represented. This
Conference is an annual event and really is a great way for public officials especially to get an
understanding of planning and zoning principals that today especially we find are very much in
need of having a good sense of the business of planning and zoning. Mayor Rinker added that it
is very encouraging that we have this number of people going. He hopes that we find that it is
very beneficial.
COMMENTS FROM COUNCIL PRESIDENT BUCKHOLTZ
Council President Buckholtz had no comments at this time.
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
SERVICE - Douglas Metzuns '
Mr. Metzung reported that delivery of the Trash Toters throughout the Village has begun.
Hanover Woods received theirs today. This will be an ongoing project. It takes approximately
six weeks to get new orders in. Mr. Metzung stated that we will try to shorten the time period
between the two and get these out before the end of the year, but it may bemid-February or so
until everyone gets their trash toter.
Mr. Metzung also reported that he asked the Council President to amend tonight's agenda to add
an item of going out to bid for the rehab of the Service Department parking lot to add additional
parking and also to go to bid for the parking lot at the Civic Center. Those items were discussed
at Caucus a couple of weeks ago.
With regard to SOM Center Road, the project is truly coming to a conclusion. We are down to
punchlist items and hope to have those complete within the next week and then a final walk
through will be done to make sure that all of the punchlist and anything else on the project is up
to our standards and it will be complete. It should take two or three weeks, no more than a
month.
Dr. Parker asked if that includes all of the landscaping too. Mr. Metzung indicated that trees and
planting probably will not be complete by the end of the next month. We may see some tree
planting beginning late in October. There is discussions on certain trees and when they can be~
planted. Mr. Metzung has only made one thing very clear to Great Lakes Construction and that
is that he is not going to warranty the trees, that they are, so that if they want to go ahead and
plant them in the fall, it is going to be at their risk, not ours. That is the only item. Those may
either (a) be' substituted or (b) get planted in the spring.
