Regular Council Meeting
10/24/05
Page 10
homeowner's association, but they still need to have a committee member. Mr. Saponaro stated
that they will be asking a member from every homeowner's association. This could be a huge
Committee. Once a mission statement has been prepared, we can go from there.
Commission on A~in~ -Mrs. Mills read the report from Eunice Kalina, Human Services
Director, attached.
Drainage & InfrastructurelStormwater Mgt. -Mrs. Cinco reported that Drainage &
Infrastructure met last Thursday morning at 8:00 a.m. There are a number of motions on the
agenda tonight for different projects. There is 5 or 6 that have been recommended for passage by
Finance. Projects did go out to bid. The number of small projects under the Mayor's spending
limit totaled around $30,000.00. Those over are the motions that are on the agenda tonight.
There is a meeting on November 1St at 7:00 here for all of the residents and their neighbors to
explain what is going to be done, who is doing it and when, hopefully and what their share in the
project will be. It is the same as last year, 10%, but so everyone is on the same page, we will be
having the meeting Tuesday, November 1St at 7:00 p.m. Letters are going out tomorrow
morning. They are all ready to go to those residents pending our approval tonight on these
motions. With moving on this now, there is hope that we can get some of this done.
Safety and Service -Mrs. Cinco reported that Safety and Service met on October 10tH
Discussed was the Jaws of Life which is on tonight. The Committee is still discussing
refurbishing the fire truck and will be receiving further information. Also discussed were the fire
station front lawn, air compressor, telephone system and server. With regard to the Service
Department the traffic signal upgrade at Wilson Mills and SOM Center and a lighting consultant
for the SOM Center Road project. The fencing for SOM Center Road, senior snow removal and
an electronic fingerprinting machine were also discussed. A number of those items are on the
agenda tonight.
Finance Committee -Mrs. Mills reported that we have 30 items on the agenda tonight. There
is a deferred action on the replacement of Ladder Truck 621, item number 2. Chief Mohr will be
finding out more information about the cost and possibly going out to bid in November. Item
number 7 is also deferred because it was felt that this should go to the IT Committee. The
Finance Committee would like their opinion on this. Additionally, the Finance Committee is
recommending to leave number 27, Ordinance 2005-18, on second reading. The rest of the items
were recommended for approval. They will be discussed this evening.
Historical Society -Mrs. Mills read the report which is attached to these Minutes.
1VI.A.R.C. - Dr. Parker reported that M.A.R.C. held its meeting on October 6th at 7:10. A copy
of the Minutes are attached. Dr. Parker highlighted that the Art Show took place on September
29th. The quality was very good. Coincidentally the piece chosen as best of show was also
chosen for the Mayor's award by Mayor Rinker, once again reflecting our Mayor's artistic taste
in judgment. The fall program sign-ups were received. The most successful programs were flag
football and floor hockey. MBA is beginning registration. There will be a Wild Teen Halloween
