Regular Council Meeting
10/24/05
Page 9
approached him and asked him to take a drive to be shown about a half of a dozen to a dozen
homes in violation for various reasons of Ordinances. Mr. Saponaro understands it is difficult to
go around and look at everything and to enforce the Ordinances. Mr. Marrelli indicated that if
someone brings something to him, he will go ahead and take care of it.
Mr. Saponaro reported that the next meeting is scheduled for Monday, November 28th. Mr.
Saponaro asked Mr. Marrelli to come and speak to the Committee. Mr. Marrelli indicated that
he would be in attendance.
Mr. Buckholtz indicated that in solidifying the Beautification Committee, one of the most urgent
issues would be the properties such as the Musca property, individual homeowner properties that
need to be kept up from time to time, the freeway exit and entrance ramps, entranceways to
neighborhoods, all negative and positive aspects of the same issue which is beautification and
keeping the standards up with the Village. Mr. Saponaro stated that what was discussed at the
Citizen's Advisory Committee was the fact that the purpose for the Beautification Committee
needs to be put together. The Committee cannot be all things throughout the Village, for
example, if you already have a homeowner's association, you don't need to do double duty. But,
if, for example, Echo Drive is not part of any homeowner's association and they want to do
something, this could be a means where they can come to the Village and say, here's a project
we would like to do. It comes down to the fact that they know they have an idea of what they are
trying to achieve.
Mr. Buckholtz added that two of the most important people is Doug and John with regard to the
Beautification Committee because you are going to have enforcement issues of problems that
exist at the same time that you are trying to create new things such as plants that need to be
watered and followed up. Whether it is going to be committee members that actually do that,
they will need to work closely with Doug and Service for materials, supplies or possibly some
back up from Service people. The same time that they are doing that, they are going to want to
extend over into the sidewalk issue and cleaning up our center of town. There will be a cross-
over. That is how we got from Citizen's Advisory and Activities. However, the Beautification
Committee should be one that stands on its own.
Mrs. Mills added that what Mr. Saponaro was striving for was to find a mission statement.
Mrs. Cinco indicated that an Ordinance will be needed for the Committee.
Mrs. Mills suggested to wait and see if this will be an offshoot of the Citizen's Advisory.
Mr. Buckholtz indicated that this will be pursued and the matter will be discussed for Caucus for
everyone to look at.
Dr. Parker suggested that we look at various neighborhood areas so that we get a wide
distribution of Village people so that each area has the opportunity to have a representative or
two on this Committee. That way we are pulling together the various areas as opposed to just
assigning people. Mr. Saponaro indicated that they are going to get a member from every
neighborhood association. Dr. Parker added that, for example, Hanover Woods has a
