Regular Council Meeting
10/24/05
Page 8
Youth MBA basketball program had over 125 boys and girls trying out for the travel program.
Mr. Thomas was overwhelmed.
The winter brochure will be mailed on November 4cn
STANDING COMMITTEE REPORTS:
Activities Committee - No report.
Architectural Review Board - Mr. Marrelli said that there was no meeting so there is no report.
Board of Appeals - Mr. Marrelli said the Board of Appeals met on Tuesday, the 18tH. A
temporary leasing banner at 600 Beta Drive was approved for a six month period.
Cemetery - Mr. Saponaro reported that there has been no meeting, but he has been in discussion
with the horticultural people and their representative Councilperson Mills to deal with the poison
ivy issue that is climbing the trees over at the cemetery. We will be dealing with that issue.
Citizen's Advisory Board - Mr. Saponaro reported that Citizen's Advisory met on October 17tH
In addition to Mr. Saponaro, Patsy Mills and Doug Metzung were present. The first item
discussed was the possibility of holding a Candidate's Night. They felt it would be helpful for
the at-large race which was contested at that point. They do not believe it is now necessary and
therefore the committee decided not to go forward with it. Also, there were Village, statewide
and County issues. The biggest thing that came out of it is the Beautification
Committee. The following would like to serve on it: Carol and Tommy Marrie, Sandy
Batcheler, Joanne O'Brien, Edie Wolfgang, Jean Britton and Donna Roman. He also has a
couple of other people who have expressed an interest in serving on the committee.
We need to get together with the Mayor to determine who will be putting together the purpose
statement, see what the number of members are and the guidelines to get the committee moving
along. Mr. Buckholtz suggested that this be coordinated with Mary Beth to pull everything
together. Mr. Saponaro added that at one point this was going to be an offshoot of the Activities
Committee. He does not know if it will be that way or its own separate committee where you
would have a Council person assign to it like the other Committees. Mr. Buckholtz indicated it
would be its own.
The Committee also talked about the Musca property. The split rail fences were taken down.
They are not going back up. Two bushes will be taken down. Some people had concerns about
enforcing the Ordinances of the Village. The comment basically is that you can have any
legislation on the books, but if we are not enforcing garbage pick up, where they are putting trash
receptacles or things of that nature, it, becomes a problem. One of the citizens who, is here has
