i
Safety and Service Committee Meeting Minutes
December 5, 2005
Page 3
Mr. Marcie explained that she had X-treme last year as an independent. She
indicated they were basically great. Mr. Marcie thinks Doug has a point. We
can't let these people go high and dry. Chief Dearden added it is a no-win
situation. When you are providing contractors with 200 residents, there is no
way they are going to do it. Lieutenant Shrefler confirmed that now when he gets
a call for service, they get charged double. They had the opportunity to make a
selection earlier in the year. Companies are already full. It will be hard to fmd
someone else. You are maxed out. i
Mrs. Mills stated that X-treme is assigned to her. He came late on
Thanksgiving. He was there this morning. They always come after everyone has
gone to work and that is a little bit aggravating. Mr. Marcie agreed. He was not
happy with A&G last year, but he did not want to make an issue out of it and said
nothing. When it started again this year, he did not care what it cost him, he
opted out.
Mr. Metzung stated that the trucks have 50 drives. With heavy snow, that is
hard. Chief Dearden indicated that that is just what they are getting from
Mayfield Village. Mr. Metzung indicated that is a lot of driveways. Mrs. Betsa
agreed, but also said that she would have let it go if it was just due to the Friday
storm, but when people are still calling today indicating their driveways have not
been done since Friday, that is inexcusable. They could not get them done over
the weekend? Mr. Marcie stated that when you have a contract, it does not matter
if you have to do it Saturday or Sunday, tough luck, that's your job. Lieutenant
Shrefler indicated that twice a day he plows. Mrs. Betsa pointed out that the
specifications clearly define twice a day before 7:00 a.m. and before 5:00 p.m.
Lieutenant Shrefler asked how they get paid. Mrs. Betsa.responded, five
times during the season. Lieutenant Shrefler added that you have some control
over it. Mrs. Betsa indicated that the letter being sent explains that some funds
may need to be withheld.
F~ANiCE ~~ . .
^ URS Professional Services for Period Ending 11/18/05 in the amount of
$42,141.86.
Mrs. Cinco indicated that. this is not an item for Safety and Service. It will
be discussed at Caucus and during Finance on December 19~.
