Regular Council Minutes
1/24/OS
Page 3
most of the time. We would think in the area of the Krenzler opening of that being feasible. The
times where it is going to be very difficult is when oncoming traffic flows is going to be heavier-
-certainly in the morning and the evening flows when you know that S.O.M. will be doing what
is designed to do and will be carrying a lot of traffic because of the spikes in the volume of
traffic. Those would be times where even people with pass throughs probably would be well
advised to be very careful about passing through the median area. I am not sure that there is
much more to say other than we have tried and I have told Dr. Stabile that I think in the long run
if he gives this an operating chance, I think his concern is far greater than what the reality will
impose. We know from experience places in Cleveland Heights and Shaker Heights and other
communities, Cuyahoga Falls--this is a discussion we have had starting 5 years ago when we
went out and we solicited input from other communities that have raised medians with areas with
limited pass-through, limited access crossing over and consistently the feedback that we got is
that residents liked them, safety and service personnel liked them. They felt they functioned well;
they thought that they were an enhancement to the properties and for the boulevard effect all the
way through. So again, we have tried to be very, very sensitive and I think for the most part we
have been able to accomplish pass-throughs for virtually all the residents but not all.
Mr. Saponaro said so nothing has been finalized but we have curb cut for--
Mayor Rinker said it is not a curb cut.
Mr. Saponaro apologized and continued so if we have a median opening or a pass-through for
the new development, Dr. Stabile's property maybe he won't have to go all the way up to Beta
Drive.
Mayor Rinlcer said I told him that it was a matter of yards that he should be able--.
Mr. Saponaro said so that would be a solution where it may not be directly opposite his driveway
but it is certainly not going to be all the way down to Beta.
Mayor Rinker said correct.
Mr. Saponaro said but nothing has been finalized; we are still looking at this and putting it into
final form.
Mayor Rinker said that is true; it hasn't been laid in but we have demoristrated to the various
residents-we gave them cut sheets last year, we really encouraged that discussion. There were a
number of properties where we tried to make adjushnents, where we tried to provide enough
opporlunity for people to understand what we are doing.
Mr. Marrie addressed Mayor Rinker and said I am a little confused. In Dr. Stabile's case if he
doesn't tie in with the Krenzler property, let's say he and Wanda would come out and go right,
would they have to go down Beta or are they going to take a u-turn right at the light?
Mayor Rinker said I wouldn't think that the Chief [Dearden] would advocate their taking a
u-turn at the light; no. They are going to have to go on to Beta. The worst case scenario-and
this is what I told Dr. Stabile-the absolutely worst case scenario from him is that he would have
