Regular Council Minutes
2-21-OS
Page 7
M.A.R.C. - Dr. Parker said there was a meeting held February 10. It was primarily an
organizational meeting; election of officers which was the same as last year. They discussed
various programs-their hockey program seems to be one of their strongest. They are
considering dropping some programs due to lack of interest such as Cheerleading which has been
around a long time but I guess they don't have the interest they did have. There is a new program
being cosponsored with Mayfield Village--the Flag Football that they are excited about. It seems
like a very nice group and their next meeting will be March 3 at 7 p.m.
Ordinance Review Committee - Mr. Marquardt said no meeting; no report.
Planning and ZoninE - Mr. Marquardt said Planning & Zoning met on February 17. On the
agenda was the Progressive Insurance Claim Center, discussion of establishing conditions for the
Conditional Use Permit. There was another item which was not on the agenda which was the
OMNUPanzica Development requesting a Conditional Use Permit for Velocity Sports
Development to occupy about 25% of the Stanley Tools building that they are renovating. That
was discussed and they are still hoping to build a hotel but they are still working on their
franchise or whatever agreements they have with Hilton. After those 2 agenda items there was
about a half hour discussion at Planning & Zoning on the role of Planning & Zoning and
planning. A number of Planning & Zoning members felt that they should be more involved with
Village planning. The proposed Hike and Bike trail is kind of an example of things where they
felt they should be involved in the planning of that and they were interested in how Council had
approved this and in what process they had gone through. I really couldn't answer; I don't think
we have a plan on the hike-bike trail even though we are moving forward with it. So as I say that
was about a half hour discussion. They would like to be involved more in planning projects that
are going on in the Village not just ruling whether uses for a property are within the zoning.
Council President Buckholtz said we put out the invitation to everyone to come to that 2020
meeting; we even contacted members of Planning & Zoning; we hope there will be some
representatives tomorrow night.
Mr. Marquardt said I think their concerns were more with the review of plans prior to
implementation rather than the conceptual portion of it.
Mayor Rinker we haven't implemented anything yet.
Recreation Board - Mr. Thomas said the Recreation Board met on Wednesday, February 16. At
that meeting we discussed extensively the Spring Party and Egg Hunt that will be occurring on
Saturday, March 19 at 12 noon. We also reviewed the Spring/Summer Parks & Recreation
Brochure and discussed upcoming activities and programs. The next meeting is scheduled for
Wednesday, March 16.
SPECIAL COMMITTEE REPORTS:
I
2020 Vision Committee - Council President Buckholtz said I don't imagine we have a report yet;
we are looking forward to the meeting tomorrow night.
