Regular Council Meeting
4-18-OS
Page 3
r
DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS:
SERVICE - Mr. Metzung said we did meet with Great Lakes regarding the S.O.M. project. We
had a progress meeting and while I had hoped they were going to announce that they were going
to begin major construction before May lst, that is not the case. They are still looking at May lst
as the day they start tearing pavement out and getting rolling. You do see them working on
various areas though-the traffic signal light and the underpass to the south end. They are
working on other areas but the main focus, the main part of the project will begin May lst
BUILDING - Mr. Marrelli said no report except to say I am looking forward to moving across
the street so we can spread our papers out in a bigger area.
ENGINEER - Mr. Cappello said I would like to inform Council and the Mayor, Wilson Mills
resurfacing the slope stabilization project, the bids were opened last week. They will probably
not begin construction until the beginning of June. As soon as we get more information, I will
forward that to Council.
Mayor Rinker said this is with the County Engineer.
Mr. Cappello said the County Engineer let this project; correct.
Mrs. Cinco asked, so this is going east?
Mr. Cappello said yes. It will be between S.O.M. and River Road in Gates Mills and the Village.
Mrs. Mills asked, they will be closing that bridge down, too?
Mr. Cappello said that will be sometime next year. They will have to close the road for this
project also because they are going to be stabilizing the slope in Gates Mills-(that slope by the
river.)
Mr. Marrie asked, when are they going to start that slope work?
Mr. Cappello said we haven't had a preconstruction meeting yet. They just opened bids last
Thursday. They have to verify that the bids are correct and they will make an award to the
contractor. As soon as we find out, we will forward that information.
Mr. Marrie asked, I assume that will be done before the road though?
Mr. Cappello said there's a good possibility; yes. They will probably do that, close the road and
then after that section is done they would probably work on the resurfacing. That is just my
opinion.
Mr. Brett asked, are they going to close the Mayfield Road bridge? Did I see a memo about that?
Mrs. Mills said no; that was the bridge over River Road.
